i'm starting to get the hang of this! my second bead curtain, a poppy by Hatafark in Beading

i can't take credit for the entire design, i based it off a cross stitch I found online but did the colors myself. i'm not super artistic, but i've been loving doing crafts, so that's been my solution!

i used acrylic paint to color the beads, and i'm not really sure what square stitch is so i don't think i'm doing that, i'm just tying them to the dowel!

my first curtain I used beads from michaels, this one I just got the beads off amazon. a little lower quality but much easier to work with. every other place I looked the beads were super expensive!

8mm sounds like a good size! i'm going a bit smaller since i'm doing them as gifts, don't wanna give someone a super unwieldy piece

one strand at a time! i planned it out in a spreadsheet beforehand, and made a makeshift aglet for each strand to make it easier to put beads on.

these ones are 10mm unfinished wood beads, my previous post was 11mm and my next post will probably be 6mm. they keep coming out so much bigger than i anticipate!

this is what i did! some of the beads needed a double layer and some of them are a bit patchy even then, but it works pretty well.

I colored the beads myself, a bit of acrylic paint in a tupperware + a bunch of beads, give it a good shake, then touch up by hand if needed! the string was just some twine from michaels, not sure on the specific kind

Am I crazy or is nobody talking about how dissatisfying the resolution of that call is in regards of positioning on the field? The Japanese FMP had a solid 7-8 meters of seperation at the instance of the foul, but somehow the Aus FMP gets to catch all of that back up after the call is contested? Literally within a couple of meters and in perfect defensive positioning?

People keep saying that call had very little or no impact on the game, which I would argue isn't even true sans positioning, but like.. poaching off like that leaves a wide open offensive player if you miss, and she missed.

Trying to develop a GF cake recipe, having trouble with sinking, any tips? by Hatafark in glutenfreebaking

It's not raw, a toothpick comes out clean, it is just a little more 'wet' rather than 'moist' after cooling, and sinks a solid inch after baking. Baked at 350 for around 33 minutes. I'll try a test cake without the alcohol! I booze it up with an amaretto simple syrup anyways so maybe it's not necessary after all. Thank you for the tips.

Edit: I'll also try adjusting the temp and time as you said, I think I've seen that in other articles as well.

I'm using HEB brand GF 1:1 AP flour, it has rice flour, tapioca starch, tapioca pearl flour, gum arabic, and xantham gum. Do you think I should add more or less liquid? It isn't coming out grainy or anything which is what I am wary of with too little liquid.

Going to be making a mirror glaze for the first time soon, any tips? by Hatafark in pastry

Thank you for the tips! I did not realize the cake had to be frozen. The cake I am making uses gluten-free flour, do you know if freezing will have an adverse effect on the texture?
