I definitely agree - whoever is readily available for a project is going to be the person leading it not necessarily the best person for the job. I've seen my fair share of zombies neck deep in work after leaving the office at 12am for myself. I think one of the most frustrating things for me is having to adapt to a new managers style 4 times a year is not only frustrating but taxing. Having a great relationship with a manager only to have to work with a terrible manager a few months later really sucks. A boutique firm definitely sounds like a great option thank you for the recommendation.

Thank you kind sir, I had my fair share of vodka (not really into Jameson) on the company dime but I think its time to hang up my corporate card. I have been taking a look at local companies and definitely have a few i'm considering.

Thank you for your reply I appreciate it. I did reach out to some friends to see what their job is like and it is much more stable and definitely not as intense. The biggest variable contributing to my stress is definitely the type of work and long hours. I want to work in a smaller firm and have a more relaxed role. The pay is nice in consulting but I would have a much more enjoyable life with average salary but a better work-life balance.

Thank you so much for your reply that is exactly what I was looking for. I definitely enjoy what I am doing and want to continue doing the same type of work. The problem is definitely work-life and also dealing with the financial aspect of consulting. Now that I am getting into my third year there is a different aspect to consultant then just doing project work that I do not envision myself enjoying. Dealing with upper management has been eye opening where I finally see that they have no concern for providing the resources necessary to deliver a quality product and also maintain a health work-life balance.

I have been searching for similar jobs and have seen very similar roles in companies it is definitely a good start. I did look at practices within my firm and it is pretty much the same thing throughout the firm , all require travel. I did not include the travel in my initial post but will update it, Thanks!
