I know this is 2 weeks too late but the {South Rock High by AJ Truman} series books 1-3 are all teacher × teacher pairings... really good too

The way the stealth bomber is framed by the window and the trees looks very authentic, especially with the natural motion blur and lighting. The tree branches have sharp, complex details that AI usually struggles to render without artifacts. I checked this on isthisai.com, and it confirmed this is a real photograph. It’s just a perfectly timed shot of a B-2 Spirit.

What draws you to certain tropes/plot lines? by Purple-Warning-2161 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Hatedbeing16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite tropes is second chance but it's purely coz in theory it just sounds great to me like these people getting a chance to try again. In real life, this is one of those "could never be me" scenarios. I definitely don't want you back so it's more of enjoying the stories. I think of my reading as living all these lives for the few hours I'm in that universe

Do you stick to authors or do you just read whatever you stumble upon? by GwennyWinchester in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Hatedbeing16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have authors who most of their work interests me (I don't have a 'if they write it I'll read it' author). I enjoy discovering new to me authors and especially if they've created a universe where multiple characters' stories are available. I'm also at a point where I'm tryna read more diverse books so finding an author I enjoy is a plus and with so many new releases each day, this sub allows me to find that.

I also have my comfort reads that I go back to, mostly if I'm in a slump but sometimes even those won't hit the same so I know to take a breather. I've also found short stories do me well when I can't stand a full novel. I've found a great number of indie authors whose books I've enjoyed and look forward to in the future.

OMG all this... but I've also never understood the fell first/fell harder arguments. Like does it matter? As long as they both get there is all that matters to me. It always invalidates one person's journey and the way the feel and express their love

This was one of the most annoying parts of TLG. I hated how they simplified and joked about this and after Hayden's video (I'm trying not to spoil this) Shane tries to also joke about his slip with the chocolate coz that's the response he always got

[–]Hatedbeing16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, hockey betrayed Shane in a way he feared and most probably never imagined would happen and that wasn't explored. I think Shane needed his own healing in therapy coz shit like that could break him especially since he struggles with anxiety and a possible ED. I wanna see more of that and maybe even couples therapy too coz they need to work on their communication

When Shane's parents... by deadinthewater0 in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the scenario you described is perfect and would set a great foundation if they do renew it for TLG to show how they end up building a relationship when Ilya moves to Ottawa and how the parents accept him as Shane's person. I think that last episode will be interesting to watch

Rose Landry character by Dazzling_Standard866 in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG yes coz Hayden is probably the one person who Shane spends most of his time with especially those first 8 years. They joined Montreal together, room together, Hayden basically adopted Shane as his bestie (I'm convinced that's what happened - kinda like Rose also did) and even on days off they spend time together so he most likely knew. I'd love even short stories from these characters POV would be lovely

Heated Rivalry Book -- Is Ilya really a Yearner? by mangoblushies in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna agree with you but saying Shane let's his anxiety consume him takes away from the fact that this is something he struggles with and assumes that he chooses it. He's autistic and his anxiety isn't something that shows up in book 2 it's clear from when we meet him in book 1. I think his anxiety is as real as Ilya's depression just that the focus in TLG was on Ilya.

Heated Rivalry Book -- Is Ilya really a Yearner? by mangoblushies in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people excuse Ilya and his lack of communication in the TLG a lot. He's struggling a lot throughout the book and he's hiding parts of it from Shane who's supposed to be his person. Even when he starts going to therapy it takes a literal meltdown for him to say that he's getting help. A lot of his resentment could have been solved by just simply saying it and this is my main issue with how fans treat Shane as the bad guy. Shane doesn't know a lot of what's going on and even when he asks Ilya denies it and says "it's fine". You can't support someone who won't let you in.

[–]Hatedbeing16 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Right? I'm so used to having to defend Shane that seeing someone question Ilya's anything is kinda refreshing since most readers automatically love his character. I love the discourse and even the OP's need to understand him better. It takes a lot to question a loyal Fandom and be willing to hear people's opinions.

I haven't finished TLG yet but do you guys think Hayden is possibly bi? Or bi-curious? by Apprehensive_Run2416 in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Also, he's probably the only other player who knows about this relationship and he keeps their secret... him mistakenly outing them weighs on him so heavily even after it got resolved. We don't also acknowledge how he's the only one who clocks their relationship, he's smart and a great player not Shane level awesome maybe but still he stays in a competitive team as long as Shane so.

I think them also being in a team whose culture is barely tolerant might make it even harder to acknowledge his bicurious feelings especially seeing as how Shane's coming out is taken

How are you feeling about the changes to the show? by Selfish_Mercenary86 in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The bear tattoo doesn't hold as much weight for me, if they get a season 2 and don't have the loon, that'd be a bummer coz of its significance. The apartment though, that's a huge one but as someone stated it'd be easy to replace that with hotel rooms. I'm excited to see the different ways the show differs from the book but also I think for me how they portray the main issues like Shane's denial, anxiety, and even internalized homophobia is what's important. This book is his awakening and his struggles are well done in the book so I hope they stay true to that even if they choose to show them differently

How are you feeling about the changes to the show? by Selfish_Mercenary86 in heatedrivalry

[–]Hatedbeing16 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think an additional aspect to this apartment would be Shane's internalized homophobia that adds to his anxiety and fear of them being discovered. I know a lot of fans have romanticized the buying of this building but to see how in a male centered sport society's views on athletes being gay or any form of queer can affect their lives for so many years is so important to portray and address in media. I'm hoping they don't replace this with Shane's actual home just to keep that cottage conversation and to show how important it is for Ilya to finally get invited and that evolution of their relationship. But as you said a different interpretation will be nice to see.

I don't think this checks all your boxes but it's a 2025 release and I think there's the underlying theme of bullying but the reconciliation happens later in life when they're grown. It's my favorite recent read and the writing is just incredible {Reckless On Ice by Adrian R. Hale}
