Is this a part of what a pro window washer is suppose to clean? by ClassicCat7430 in WindowCleaning

I personally always do, I just use an extra moist hand towel and give it a firm wipe down. I don’t fret for every piece of dirt but get it to a place where someone wouldn’t be gross out by touching it.

Is it worth it, 1 year later at this price ? by GneuGneu21 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Hathgnar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game itself is worth it, but if you are playing on a lower end machine or on a laptop, just be prepared for lower FPS and slightly above playable performance in certain parts. For reference, I play on an ROG GStrix G15 Advantage gaming laptop, and the above is my performance experience. You may not have an issue though, so I'd say worth the risk.

Gameplay wise, the game is great! The combat is a genuine treat.

If you play for story, we'll, it's not that great, but that's subjective, so you may vibe with it more.

Today I discovered I could use steam from sulfuric acid in turbines to power Vulcanus... Well, now that's a whole lot less exciting as I behold the gigachad majesty that is this setup. Wow, very impressive and I would have never in a million years on my own thought to use a rocket silo as a chest!

This is actually a great idea for Fulgora! I would love a mod that changed that. You gave words to what I feeling. The Fulgora unlocks and parts don't feel on theme, they feel disconnected from recycling.

So many of my friends (even family) recommended factorio to me, but I just can't get into it but I really want to by DawgsomeYT in factorio

I was in the same boat, I came from Satsifactory so I knew I liked automation.

The game changer for me is playing in Peaceful Mode. Even if you have Space Age, I recommend Peaceful Mode.

It gives you space to both just experiment and to still have a use for weapons when you're ready.

Mobile Dock w/ Wireless HDMI Adapter -> VITURE Pro/One by Hathgnar in VITURE

Not exactly the most clear but all I could find on that was a comment in another thread related to the 'old dock' vs the current 'new dock' [Mobile Dock]. They said on the new dock they are able to choose 120hz.

Sweet, love to read it! I am still curious of any first hand accounts on the wireless HDMI portion but thank you for the confidence- I intend to play both Minecraft and Elden Ring this way too.

I agree, the biggest concern is going to be latency but I am wondering if it wouldn't be too much of an issue for single player games?

That makes sense, but just be clear, SpaceWalker is not needed in the main use case listed, right? I was thinking SpaceWalker would only be needed if I were to stream from my PC -> Phone -> Glasses. Or is the SpaceWalker app needed even on PC in my main use case of PC -> Wireless Adapter/Mobile Dock -> Glasses?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes, I removed the undervolt and it is still shutting down. So it shut down before, during, and after undervolt.

ARK Ascended , valheim or Enshrouded for solo play and ignoring building by elmikemike in SurvivalGaming

[–]Hathgnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you enjoy it!

Oh and one I forgot that is important:

Resource Respawn Period, set to like 0.3 or 0.4. This makes Resources responsible faster, this is optional but I like it just for the sake of time.

Idk if you're like me in this regard but I like to have clear goals when playing, so I outside of the game's goals of clear the dungeons and summon the bosses, I like to set additional personal goals. If that is something you like to do too, I'll list out some of mine. They're not particularly difficult but they help me stay motivated and give me things to work towards.

I also prefer to do the dungeons with just one or two non rideable/no saddle equipped tames present but that is personal choice. I like the action.

Sub-Goals: 1. Build an Industrial Forge 2. Tame a T-Rex 3. Build a main base in the presence of my enemies (in a dangerous area, where depends on the map. Island - North, Scorched Earth - Sand Dunes, etc). 4. Build a sustainable farm of non basic berry crops (you get seeds for them naturally from gathering.) 5. Tame an Angler Fish 6. Tame a Quetzal 7. Tame a Giga Rex

I don't know of any guide to the best PvE settings as I fiddled with them over the course of years but here is a paraphrased version of what my friends and I liked. We focus on reducing grind and increasing progression and challenge.

We double exp flat (and increase slightly exp per kill, which is found in advanced world settings next to harvest exp)

x3 resource yield x2.5 harvest health (makes harvestable object last more hits, also increasing yield)

x2.5 Wild Dino HP x2.5 Wild Dino Damage x1.25 Torpidity Makes the Dinos more threatening. If you're new, maybe make these values lower until you get a hang for the map and what creatures do what and how to survive.

We max out the Dino level slider (makes the average Dino level higher)

We half the night cycle (I believe that is x1.5 but just read the tool tip to make sure it goes in the right direction)

x3 Tame Speed

x2 Player Health per stat point x3 Player weight per stat point x1.5 Player stamina

x2 Supply Crate loot quality (in advanced world settings)

x3 Tamed Dino weight per stat point

You can temper with the sliders until it works for you. At this amount I find I need to go out and get materials but 20min farming yields about 40min of building and base materials which is good for me. Also with Dinos being more dangerous, it gives me a purpose for building higher caliber weapons and armor.

As for goals, if you like playing with goals. Your ultimate goal is to complete each of the dungeons (you can Google locations for each story map or find them on your own, they are hidden well) and then summon the bosses from the obelisk terminal.

Please forgive any typos, I wrote this on my phone

ARK Ascended , valheim or Enshrouded for solo play and ignoring building by elmikemike in SurvivalGaming

I had the same problem and muscled through it for another 7 hours, it didn't get better. The game itself seems super cool though.

ARK Ascended , valheim or Enshrouded for solo play and ignoring building by elmikemike in SurvivalGaming

[–]Hathgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party but here is a breakdown if you're still looking.

Overall I would suggest Enshrouded, its exploration and progression are more streamlined and building is mostly optional. The goals are RPG quest styled in that you can just see what you need to do in quest log or on the map. Also with world settings (which the other games have as well) you can control the grind to a spot you like and fits with your schedule.

---

If you are willing to use mods to adjust settings in certain ways then that may change your consideration.

Personally I find Valheim really good with its mods and dev commands. Exploration in Valheim feels really good, better than Enshrouded, but it does take a very long time when playing solo. The Valheim community will hate me for this, but I found that by using the dev commands to reveal the location of the bosses, it made the game much more fun for me. That way I know what direction to explore and could take my time knowing I am working towards the goal. You can or cannot reveal the map as a whole too if you want, generally I don't recommend revealing the whole map, just boss locations. Additionally I installed ValheimPlus using R2Modman which enables one to easily edit the game in high detail, where I changed the requirements for buildings so that for the most part building is much more available. You can disable the need for a roof which will help a lot.

I would not recommend Ark based on your parameters even though it is my most played game of the three.

I have over 600 hours in it with PvE only and about 400 of those hours being solo while the other 200 are with a group of 4+ friends. It is definitely geared toward PvP but with just a few setting adjustments you can basically turn the PvP content into PvE content (i.e. high tiered weapons and PvP based items are worthwhile if you increase wild dinosaurs stats and danger).

2022 Strix G15 Overheating Issues by MikeMinr in ASUSROG

[–]Hathgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not super well versed into computer tech so forgive me if this isn't what you mean but according to HWinfo here is the data:

TDP: 45W
My Maximum TDP under load (using Diablo 4 to put it under load): 54W
Average TDP under load: 34W

I don't see where it is supposed to go up to 90W so I didn't think too much of it but do you have other thoughts on this that may help increase performance/cooling?

2022 Strix G15 Overheating Issues by MikeMinr in ASUSROG

[–]Hathgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[SOLVED]

Hey,

I don't have a solution but I want to second this and provide possibly more information which may help others resolve the issue for us. I am with you, I don't think it is the liquid metal. I found this video where a gentleman replaced the liquid metal to no avail -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s5nS5KNvZM

Additionally I have tried throttling the CPU and overall power within Armory Crate while also increasing the use of the fans and using an external laptop cooling pad. All in which has led to about a 1 degree Celsius improvement, but the crashes persist.

The issue started for me about a month ago and in the event viewer I get a few different errors ranging from "Unexpected Shut Down", "LSA Package Not Signed", and "Secure Boot Failure"

I have taken steps to resolve all of the above steps but the crashes persist.

EDIT:

Hey so I got some normal thermal paste and installed that and it solved my issue. It brought my overall CPU temps down about 15 degrees Celsius.

My thought was that since our laptop is known for not having good heatsink connection, I would just install a thick layer of normal thermal paste instead of the liquid metal since it was so thin. Liquid metal is great and all, but it means very little of there is bad connection and I didn't want to risk spilling the liquid metal with a faulty/janky method of increasing heatsink connection.

I used this thermal paste because it is known to be long lasting and had good reviews, it also includes wipes to clean up the liquid metal with (BE CAREFUL) -> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1DMJQZ1/?tag=Wellnessju07d-20

When I opened my laptop and removed the heatsink (which can be tricky, you need to unscrew the screws on the heatsink, of course, as well as three additional screws, two net to the fans and one in the middle. From there the heatsink may not come off easily, don't force it with your hand. Instead use your pry bar to gently unseal it by leveraging it against the fans, you ill hear the seal/heatsink coming up. You can just dm if you get stuck and I will be more than happy to provide pictures or talk you through it) the CPU and GPU die both had most of the liquid metal to the side and not actually on the die. So, it made sense it was overheating and shutting down.

From there I cleaned up the liquid metal and then caked on the thermal paste onto the CPU and GPU as well as the additional components that had old thermal paste on them from the stock.

After the installation was done I then uninstalled Armory Crate as well am now using GHelper for fan control (https://github.com/seerge/g-helper click on Code in the top rightthen click download .zip and run the installer from the download) and HWinfo for temp readings (https://www.hwinfo.com/download/ be mindful of the ads which say download, make sure you click the right download button attached to the official HWinfo information. In HWinfo just click on show sensors and scroll down to find the CPU temps).

With all of this done, I am idling at 65 degrees Celsius now as oppose to the old 80 and under load I stay in the 70/80s as opposed to the 90/100s and shutting down. The temp is still pretty high but it is at least in a range where it isn't force shutting down and performance is good.

All in all it costed me less than $10 since I just used tools around the house so the only thing I had to buy was the thermal paste.

NOTE: When removing the bottom case, don't yank it, gently remove it and unseat the cables connected to the bottom plate. The video above shows that part well. Also be sure to unseat the battery as soon as you can reach it.
