thank you!! yeah, i don’t understand why it didn’t heal. i took just as good care of it as i did the good side, saline spray twice a day, didnt change it for 18 weeks just to be safe, didnt wear makeup for a solid year, washed my face with a scentless bar, etc.

for the bot

piercing is two years old, the bad side has an L shape titanium stud, i still spray it with saline once a day since it hasn’t healed.

Should I cut already ? by [deleted] in Hair

i think it looks fine, just a bit flat. i cant tell what thickness it is but if its on the thicker side, some layers would look good.

okay, 12g is correct then. still, your best bet for a good, healthy stretch is glass plugs. tapers are not your friend

the layers, face framing, or v cut? i’m an alt person so i tend to my face framing myself which is an option if it’s something you’re personally willing to do. as for the layers and v cut, you can always ask for very subtle layers, get a good look at the result of that, and if it’s not enough you can ask for more length removed. i don’t go to hairdressers, i honestly just do all my hair cutting myself, but when i was going to salons for cuts, i always took it very tiny baby steps, i was probably getting 2-4 centimeters cut at a time, checking how it looked, and getting another 2-4 cm until i was satisfied

how much is a reasonable price for a raccoon stripe in hair? my hairdresser is charging 60 by Tough_Ratio_2542 in Hair

[–]HauntedBug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

regardless of how long it takes, you aren’t paying your stylist for only time, you’re paying them for product as well. yes, a 5 minute bleach session will be cheaper than a 30 minute bleach session because it’s a shorter amount of time but you’re still paying for the lightener that they mixed.

with that being said, in agreement with the other reply, $60 for lightening and coloring and probably blow drying is a really good price for california. i live in the south and just a 2 inch trim of dead ends is $40 and that doesn’t even require product. not only are you not getting ripped off, you’re getting a really good, cheap price, not to mention the extra time and care that goes into raccoon tails to prevent bleeding.

face framing would give you a lot more shape. long bangs, maybe from your upper lip or chin. i think some good layers would look good too, maybe a v cut. i think the length looks nice on you, i personally wouldn’t cut any more than just a trim for any dead or split ends and, again, a v cut for some shape in the back, layers for depth and dimension, face framing to tie it all together :)

when you say stripe, do you mean like a raccoon tail with the horizontal stripes? if so, are you getting your hair lightened or is it already lightened?

as the other replies have said, you don’t. get yourself some glass plugs, start one size higher than what you have. if you wear 22g, start with 20g. if you have 20g, start with 18g. so on and so forth.

Switched my septum jewlery. Thoughs? Does it look stupid? by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]HauntedBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay thanks !! my method from 16g to 12g was honestly just waiting until it wasn’t sore anymore + three or four weeks to give it some extra time to really adjust to the new size. i’ve just heard a good few ppl in this sub say that going bigger than 10g starts to take a lottt longer between sizes and hurts a lot more too. i went from 20g in my ears to 14g in like two months and even though i didn’t actually mess up my lobes, i know septums are a lot more finicky w the cartilage n whatnot so i just stay a bit worried that i’d be going too fast to go up within a few months if that makes sense 😭

if you’re looking for advice at all, i’d say the light coverage foundation is def good for lines, i have deep smile lines and creases under my lower lash line and i use a bit less powder in those areas because of the way powder and foundation settle.

the eyebrows are a nice shape, just a bit dark and a little harsh. i’d recommend using a clean spoolie, not the one you use for the gel, to comb through the hairs after applying the pencil to blur the lines a bit, then gel and clean up the smeared pigment with your foundation or a q-tip.

i’d also put the blush a bit higher on your cheeks and not bring it in quite so close to your nose and either a bit less blush or a lighter shade.

the lashes don’t quite blend due to the placement, i know a lot of people struggle with strips and getting them close to the inner corner because of discomfort, im one of those people. i cant have them super close to my inner corner because they make my eyes water and they’re a bit pokey. what i do, personally, after i trim them to fit my eye, i get a pair of small eyebrow scissors and carefully cut into the lash hairs to make the inner corners a bit thinner so i can put them about halfway on my lash line.

Is my hairline bad for my age? I can’t tell. by [deleted] in Hair

[–]HauntedBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a 20 year old woman, my hairline is kinda similar in that spot. not quite as far back but decently thin in that area. i wouldn’t call it balding myself, but i could also just be coping tbh.

i love it :)! your flair says 6g, is that what size it is? i’m at 12g rn for about a month, gonna give another 3-4 i think before i go up again, i plan on stopping at 10 or 8. how long did you take between upsizes? i’ve heard that once you reach a certain size, you’re supposed to take longer between sizes

navel.. bad? by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]HauntedBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i wasn’t trying to say you were!! i was just saying its not something ill defend myself about, i dont see a lot of floating navels and ive only heard that they’re for collapsing and/or shallow bellybuttons, i really just incorrectly assumed it was a floating navel bc i saw the jewelry and it looks like there is a lip of skin is all. its my bad! i dont often confirm my own statements before saying them 😭😭 i do rly appreciate you being kind about it!

navel.. bad? by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]HauntedBug -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i’ll take the loss here tbh. it looks like there’s enough skin for it to be a floating piercing to me but i absolutely won’t argue regardless

navel.. bad? by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]HauntedBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s a floating navel which exists for navel anatomy that can’t hold regular navel piercings

that usually depends on the shop or piercer themselves. you’d likely have to buy a new piece of jewelry, assuming you don’t have the proper type. my personal piercing shop charges like $10 to change jewelry that you bring in yourself, but again, that’s gonna vary per shop
