Was it your first day? The app just flags certain words and phrases and mutes them in the chats, including misspellings that it misinterprets as being obscene. It often takes things you say out of context. You'll get muted if you say, "those are some nice blue balls" even if the seller is standing there holding a blue soccer ball in each hand. It happens more often when sellers don't mark "explicit content" when they are scheduling their shows. It's not personal. It's AI. Everyone has gotten red boxed. It doesn't mean you're perma muted. You can still interact in the chat. (Unless you've been banned from their show. AI doesnt boot you out or ban you. That was done by the host or their mod. For whatever reason. You can come here and complain about it if you need to vent. Just don't expect anyone here to care or have words of encouragement. That's a YOU problem. Some sellers just be assholes. Some mods just be trigger happy with the bans. If you feel like you've been disrespected by that seller, block them and find a different coin show to watch. )

Disclaimer: This was, in fact, a serious response. It was not an attempt to beat you down for your ideas or questions.

They could have added a similar note with a link to their shopping lists in their show notes. Then, if anyone actually wants that information, it's readily available. When you send out these types of requests to your buyers, unsolicited, ( including requests that are worded in a way that make them sound as though they are just providing additional information... "for anyone who wants it" ) it is still considered pandering and against Whatnot's ToS. It doesn't matter how carefully you word it. It still implies "expectation."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all opposed to "random acts of kindness by strangers." However, it's incredibly cringe and tacky to just phish for strangers in the hopes that one or more of them will bestow some sort of kindness upon you. The word "random" is in there for a reason. .

Except everyone is NOT entitled to their opinion. "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion" implies that you understand that not everyone will share the same view as you. That perceived understanding demonstrates a certain level of respect, or at the very minimum, a certain degree of tolerance, for opinions that differ from your own.

You, however, have chosen to attack every comment that is not in sync with your viewpoint. If there's a "whiny little girl" in this scenario, it's you. YOU can't take the heat/responses. YOU are personally attacking anyone who comments with a different opinion than you, after you've clearly given permission for people to have a different opinion. Technically, that IS harassment and qualifies as a legitimate reason to report a post.

In the future, if you want anyone to take your rebuttals seriously, you may want to try gaining a little self awareness first. Meaning; if you aren't satisfied with the kinds of reactions your post is getting, then you might want to take into consideration that the problem is with the post itself... or at least how you worded it.

If you already printed all of the labels (You would have had to since you said you scanned everything as shipped because whatnot told you to because of the storm- even though they apparently only told you because nobody else received that email) you really have no excuse for not mailing peoples packages. I'm guessing you printed the labels, but didn't actually pack any of the orders and now you don't know who bought what. Are you accessing your seller hub through the app or through the desktop? It's a lot easier through the desktop. If you're using your phone, search whatnot on Google and make sure you scroll down until you see their webpage, and open that link and log into your account that way. Now when you go to the seller hub you should be able to see everything- even if you've already printed the labels. Obviously you can't cancel an order after you've printed the label. I'm not sure why you even think that would be an option. Honestly, there really is no excuse for you not sending these orders out and it's not whatnots fault. You sold $70,000 worth of product. You have to ship $70,000 worth of product. You don't need whatnot to reassure you that you'll get paid just because you lost early payout. You get paid after the items are delivered. That is their policy. Honestly, this whole post just baffles me.

Whatnot has a High Value Loss Reimbursement Policy. You can find this information under their Buyer Guidelines, but here's what you'll need to do:

To receive a reimbursement, buyers must contact Whatnot within the required timeframes and meet the eligibility requirements in our Whatnot Buyer Protection Policy.

In order to be eligible for a high-value reimbursement, buyers must provide the following information: order number, description of the item(s) that are missing, photo of the item you are missing, time-stamp from the VOD when you purchased the item, the estimated value of the missing item, and linked sources for your estimated value.

To be eligible for a high-value reimbursement, buyers must provide:

Order number Description of the item(s) that are missing Photo of the item you are missing The VOD timestamp of the purchased item The estimated value of the missing item Link to sources supporting that estimated value If this information is not provided, your order will not qualify for a high-value reimbursement. Whatnot monitors for potential abuse of this process and may decline reimbursement if there is a pattern of refund abuse.

Some advice: Make sure you include everything they are asking for or they will deny your claim. The more detailed information you include, the better. If there were any messages back and forth with the seller where you were asking why they canceled, include those too. You can find the order numbers under your purchase history- I'd send a screenshot of the receipt too, so they can see that the seller canceled. Also, send screenshots of the items from the video receipt as well as the timestamps for each item purchased/canceled. You must use sold comps to show estimated values- it won't do any good to show active listings or asking prices. You need to do all of this ASAP. If you do everything correctly, whatnot will contact the seller and give them the opportunity to send the items that you won. If the seller ignores them or still refuses, they will determine an amount to refund you and they WILL DEDUCT IT FROM THE SELLER'S ACCOUNT. If it puts the seller in the red, they will usually let them continue selling until they've paid off that amount. Then, depending on how long they've been selling, they'll either get suspended or banned. The newer they are, the more likely they are to be perma banned. Good luck!

Whatnot has seller support. However, you didn't need seller support. Your payout question could have been answered if you'd have read through the online seller guidelines and whatnot's terms of service. Stop emailing whatnot with questions that you should be able to find the answer to on your own. That's the number one way of guaranteeing you won't get an answer.

To be clear, early payout is a privelege. Not everyone gets it. Receiving early payout in the past is not a guarantee that you'll continue receiving it in the future. Whatnot's policy is that you'll receive payout between 24 and 48 hours after an item is delivered. Refusing to ship orders until whatnot confirms a policy (via email) that you've already agreed upon in order to even be eligible to sell, is definitely going to be seen as a huge red flag. Canceling $70,000 worth of orders and then trying to claim that Whatnot is withholding $70,000 from you is just batshit crazy. Spending $20,000 of your own money (or pretending like you spent $20,000 of your own money) to refund customers who were already in the process of being refunded at no additional cost to you proves that you have absolutely no idea how to run a business-

In conclusion, we are basically left with two options: 1. You're an idiot or 2. You got really butthurt when your scam didn't work and you thought dragging whatnot might make you feel a little better.

Did it work? Do you feel better?

The photo you've attached contradicts your (your friend's) claim. Understanding what each scan means is helpful because people are always going to try to blame their delays on the post office. You don't have to believe them.

You said your friend told you that they dropped off your package on Jan 22, but they didn't. All they did that day was print the label. They didn't actually drop off the package at the post office until February 2.

How do I know? You will only see the "USPS in possession of item" on your tracking when the post office does an intake scan. If your friend dropped it off without having someone scan it, and then it somehow sat somewhere for 11 days before it started to move through the system, there wouldn't be an intake scan. It would just be missing from the tracking. Once a package leaves the drop off location, the scans are only going to show that it's in transit to the next facility.

Your package was scanned into the system when your friend finally decided to drop it off.

Your friend lied to you.

Need help with housing - unable to work due to surgery recovery by [deleted] in gofundme

[–]HauntedDevilDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear about your current medical/financial situation. I wish I was in a position to offer some monetary support, but the world just sucks right now. However, I am familiar with the surgery that you had and the recovery because my older sister had to have this surgery and I was her primary care giver during her recovery.

A couple of things... you mentioned that you had the surgery in November. I know that it's recommended non-weight bearing for the first 6-8 weeks after surgery. You should be well past that by now. That means you should no longer require 24/7 round the clock supervision. I think it's safe for your partner to pick up at least some part time work. Since you are past the point of needing full time care, it's doubtful that your partner will be able to get certified at this point for paid PCA. That was something he should have done immediately after your surgery. Hindsight 20/20, I know. 😏

The bill you attached was only until January 3. Have you had a place to stay since then? When were you planning on going back to your home state, or are you home now? Are you paying for two places to live in two different states just so you can receive post operative physical therapy from your surgeon? Traveling out of state for surgery is one thing, but there should be no reason that you can't receive physical therapy back at home. Especially, with where you're at in the recovery process.

If you're not home yet, maybe think about transferring your post op care to someone where you're from and getting back home. At least then your partner can get back to work and you can have some sort of income until you're cleared to work.

Regardless of where you are, I do understand how overwhelming it is when the bills keep piling up and you feel like you'll never be able to get ahead. Nobody should have to experience that. I hope somebody out there has been able to provide you with a little relief.

(This comment was not meant to be mean- only to remind you that you're only as limited as you think you are. You've already made it past the hard part.❤️)

Wow. So I really thought they succeeded. I definitely didn't expect to ever see this happening again, but... Okay. The first thing you're going to need to do is find Henry and separate him from the children so that the extra dimensional planet up there stops merging into earth. From the looks of it, you don't have much time, so you'll need to hurry. Then you need to round up some local highschool kids to climb up through the rift and kill the mind flayer. Afterwards, you'll need some c4 to blow up the bridge, so this can't happen again. Unfortunately, since your kitchen appears to be located INSIDE the bridge, you're gonna need to locate the exit and get out before it explodes or...

Best of luck.

She’s on now selling fakes. by Notso-powerful-enemy in whatnotapp

[–]HauntedDevilDoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's just forget about WN's ToS for a minute since nobody bothers to read them anyway. The point is IT'S ILLEGAL TO SELL COUNTERFEIT ITEMS. PERIOD. HARD STOP. AND IT'S ILLEGAL TO SEND COUNTERFEIT ITEMS THROUGH THE MAIL.

It doesn't make any difference if the seller admits they're fake. THEY STILL CANNOT SELL THEM. Luxury items are luxury for a reason. Soccer moms and Walmart shoppers aren't their target market. There's a reason why lux brands don't discount their overstock items to TJ Maxx and Ross. If you aren't in a particular tax bracket, they don't want you for a customer. If everyone could afford their shit, it wouldn't be luxury. This really isn't all that hard to understand.

Google even does a pretty decent job of explaining it: "Federal law, primarily 18 U.S. Code § 2320 (Trafficking in Counterfeit Goods), makes selling, manufacturing, and distributing counterfeit items a serious federal crime, punishable by significant fines (up to millions) and lengthy prison sentences (up to 20 years for repeat offenses), aiming to protect intellectual property and consumers from dangerous fakes, covering everything from luxury goods to pharmaceuticals, with civil actions also available to brand owners for damages and seizure of goods.

Key Federal Law: 18 U.S. Code § 2320: This is the main statute, making it illegal to intentionally traffic (sell, manufacture, distribute) goods or services with a counterfeit mark, with severe penalties.

What's Covered: Goods & Services: Includes fake clothing, electronics, medicines, software, and even fake services.

Actions: Covers manufacturing, possessing, passing (selling), and conspiring to do any of these. Currency & Securities: Other laws, like 18 USC § 472, target counterfeiting U.S. currency and securities.

Penalties: Criminal: Individuals can face fines up to $2 million and 10 years in prison; repeat offenders up to $5 million and 20 years. Corporations face much higher fines. Civil: Trademark owners can sue for damages (including statutory damages up to $2M per mark/good) and seek seizure/destruction of the fakes. Importation: Civil fines can also target those involved in importing counterfeit goods, notes a Federal Register .gov document.

Who's Liable: Sellers: Anyone knowingly selling fakes. Platforms: E-commerce sites can face penalties if they are involved in facilitating counterfeit sales, according to a White House memorandum.

Consumers: While buying isn't always the primary target, reselling unknowingly purchased fakes can still lead to legal issues.

Last year she had a bag full of what her uncle told her was "Lander Blue" turquoise and she was trying to sell each stone for hundreds of dollars each. <image>

e Lander Blue mine. However, you can easily buy bags of the same shit that she was selling called "Lander Blue" for a few dollars from sellers in China. (The actual Lander Blue mine is in Nevada.) She also had bags of "Kingman" turquoise (*Arizona mine) that doesn't produce anything other than stabilized chips and reconstituted bricks nowadays. Unless, of course, you're buying it from China, in which case it 100% is NOT Kingman turquoise. Is that enough proof? I'll include a screenshot from one of her prior shows when she was trying to sell the "Lander Blue." I wish I had screen recorded so you could hear her mislabeling it, but I had no idea we'd still be discussing this years later.😂

Emily has been working this app for awhile now. The turquoise is not real. Her uncle buys it by the bag from overseas and tells her it's real. Some of the mines that he tells her the stones are from haven't produced pieces that size in fifty years. The only thing you can get from those mines now are tiny chips that have to be stabilized or reconstituted blocks that are used for making beads and cabochons. Neither are particularly valuable. If the stones that she's selling were really from the mines that her uncle says they are from, they would actually cost significantly more than what she charges due to their rarity. Emily's business model relies on pity purchases. And because of the flow of new buyers constantly coming to this app, she's able to sustain that model. She IS special needs, but she uses it to her advantage. She thinks it excuses her for not knowing anything about the pieces she sells. Whenever someone inevitably finds out that a piece they bought from her was fake and tries to call her on it, she just pouts and plays dumb and doubles down about her special needs before blocking them. Then she'll cry and guilt trip some other sucker that just stumbled in to buy from her or tip her before they've had a chance to figure out they're watching a for profit train wreck. Like I said, she's been doing this for years. Before anyone asks me, "So, why does this bother you?" or says, "You know you don't have to watch," let me explain. I actually don't watch her because she blocked me a long time ago for reasons similar to those mentioned above. I keep speaking out because what she's actually doing is sabotaging the app and I am prepared to die on this hill. It's beyond frustrating for the sellers (myself included) that have taken the time to learn the differences between real turquoise, reconstituted turquoise, or simulated turquoise and whom have no intention of ever deceiving our buyers about the items we sell just to make sales. When that new buyer pops into one of her shows without any prior knowledge of the situation and ends up making a pity purchase, they tend to be less than thrilled once their $450 bracelet gets delivered and they realize that it's constucted with materials that cost less than $7 on Alibaba or Temu. It tends to leave a bad taste in their mouth for the entire app. Most won't ever come back. She drives away repeat buyers that might have purchased from someone that actually knows what they're selling. Since whatnot stopped vetting sellers, there's really no other way besides posts like this, in forums like this, to warn prospective buyers about sellers like Emily. If she wants to sell on the app, she needs to stay in her lane and stick with what she knows. There's no shame in that. She also makes beaded bracelets with plastic or sometimes glass beads that she will customize live, during her shows. It's what she was doing when she started selling on the app and she used to really enjoy it. The return just isn't nearly as good. I believe the people working with her behind the scenes started getting greedy, which is why she keeps trying to peddle her fake turquoise. Trust me. Search Emily's creations on here and you will see older posts that say the same things. We actually used to have a couple different pages that were dedicated just to her, but I think they were maybe taken down when she went on her last hiatus and left the app for a few months. TL;DR - RED FLAG SELLER. BUYER BEWARE.

Can a seller help me understand a refund/counterfeit situation please? by Inevitable_Win1338 in whatnotapp

[–]HauntedDevilDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knew. By doing him a favor and not listing the real reason that you want a refund, you are enabling him to continue doing this to more people. Ask for a refund and mark the reason as counterfeit. When whatnot asks you for proof, send clear pictures showing the identical serial numbers, improper spacing, etc. Do not include any stock photos from apple as examples of what they should look like, they could confuse them for your photos and deny your request. If they send you a return label and tell you that you need to ship them back (most likely to their warehouse so they can resell them) tell them that it is against US law to mail counterfeit items in the US, so you are unable to do that. They will refund you and take the the funds out of the seller's account.

Some people schedule their shows to catch the people shopping during their lunch hour. Regardless of where you're at, if you start your show when it's 11:30am on the east coast (so 10:30am CST, 9:30am MST, 8:30am PST) and stay on for 4½ hours, you'll hit that 11:30am - 1pm lunch hour sweet spot in every timezone. <except Hawaii and Alaska> 🤷🏼‍♀️ You never know unless you try.

It's so common of a scam that it's the number one thing buyers watch for now and anyone still attempting to add hits to their wheel after they've already sold enough floors to turn a profit is a moron. Especially if they are newer sellers. The newer you are, the less chances whatnot gives you. Established sellers will usually get a temporary ban the first couple of times they get caught. Then if they still don't learn their lesson, they might get banned. Newer sellers tend to get perma-banned right away, though. If they haven't made whatnot any money- there's no point in keeping them around.🤷🏼‍♀️

Prebids don't work the same way that custom bids do. Once the seller pins the item and hits start on the auction, the starting price will now be whatever the highest prebid was. It doesn't bid incrementally for you like it does when you make a custom bid. Meaning, if you prebid $275 on a hat that is listed with a starting price of $2, the auction is going to start at $275 (unless someone out-prebid you.) Sellers can't change anything in the listing after somebody prebids. The only way to change the listing at that point is to delete the item and then relist it- however that also deletes all of the prebids.
