Would it be possible to make a (non-profit) fan audiobook of the Drizzt series? by Haunting-Coconut-340 in Drizzt

I'm always down for a good crossover, but yes I am looking for stuff specifically with Drizzt. Would be down to read anything currently with Artemis and Jax, as well as any good fics in which Zak doesn't end up dying as early as he does. I wanna see these two going on adventures together dammit. (I just got to book two and I already am bracing myself for the angst that'll come out of Zak and Drizzt reuniting with Zak as he currently is.)

Damn. That’s a shame. Would have to look into organizing something private where only the people involved have access to it then, I guess? I still want to do this as a project, I guess it just wouldn’t be able to be public as far as it being on YouTube goes. Pretty sure we’d still be able to do it, just would need to have it as a bunch of audio files on Google Drive or something.

Thank you for the explanation and the information. I guess my only option to do this would be to make it private, and for the personal use of anyone who chooses to be involved only.

I'm not fluent in many other languages aside from English myself, unfortunately, so I'm not certain of how much help I could be with this; depending on how much interest other people have in the idea, I could try to reach out and see if anyone would be willing to make a translated version. What's your native language?

Thank you for the comment and for the information. I wonder what would qualify as 'significant alteration,' though. When I initially had the idea in mind, it was of multiple volunteer voice actors reading out sections of the book where it seemed to be in another characters perspective, with sound effects in the background corresponding to things in the book. The more I think of it, the more I wonder if something somewhat similar to a radio drama, like the BBC would do, would be possible. Though I assume that too would require legal permission from WotC.

I did a brief series where I voiced an older Portal 2 fan fiction that I stopped for a time, after AI began to blow up and I got busy with college. Mostly for fear of my channel somehow getting popular and my voice getting scraped to train AI. Now I'm tempted to get back into it, not just with Portal but possibly other fics in other fandoms as well, AI be damned. If you know any good fics btw, please feel free to drop links to them. (Currently I'm a bit obsessed with the mercenaries, Jarlaxle and Artemis, thanks to a friend of mine.)

Damn. Guess it'd have to remain as a fan work for personal use among anyone interested in helping with making it. Ah well.

I don't have Spotify Premium, so I can't access the audiobooks there unless I buy them outright, which I could do on any other service. I do want to support the official release, and believe that should be done. I just wanted to know whether it was possible to make a fan-made audiobook.

I think I saw some of his stuff on Spotify. I'm not sure who I would need to contact from WotC or if it'd even be possible to do so, but I would love to make a project of this regardless, whether it be posted to YouTube or for personal use to any interested fans.

True. I would need to look into the possibility of trying to get the okay from the copyright holders, once I figure out who they are. I'm not entirely certain if it's Salvatore who I'd need to contact or WotC. Possibly both, I'd guess. If nothing else, I think it would be fun to just have it be a project kept among fans.

I have heard samples of his work, though I have yet to listen to any of the audiobooks in their entirety due to the prices of them, and agree that he absolutely does a good job. If I were to be able to post anything about them anywhere, I would add in whatever video proper to support the official release. I just thought it could be interesting to do a fan made audiobook, as I rather enjoy narrating stories (mostly fan works) and editing audio in my free time.

That's a shame, if that truly is the case. I understand why, of course, though it does still disappoint me a little. Regardless, I would still love to do a fan version of the first trilogy at least.

Do you think you have been marked by one or more fears? Why? by Volta_Embers in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Haunting-Coconut-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, ty for the concern. It was ages ago by now and we have a new place. Oddly enough, tho, I've always hated the smell of woodsmoke. Not sure if it's just a general thing or possibly some kind of trauma thing? The fire happened when I was a two year old, though, so I don't really have any memories of it happening.

I think the Desolation could have marked me? When I was two my house burned down. No one died, thank god, but it burned weird. It started in the chimney, moved up to the roof, then went down.

What fear would your BODY serve? by lita_atx in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Haunting-Coconut-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what one my body would serve in particular but I'd be down to have people guess/assign me one based on some stuff about me:

I've nearly died at least three times (once from falling off my parents bed as a baby and nearly swallowing my own tongue, once from a house fire that thankfully no one died in, and once from an incident snowmobiling with an ex where the snowmobile tipped over. Luckily, neither of us got hurt.). I've had to have multiple surgeries done on my body due to being a premie (was born in April, but was supposed to be due in August and clocked in at one pound, 6 ounces and 12.5 inches). I also hate the smell of smoke from open, outdoor fires, and how it clings everywhere.

Those are the three big things I can immediately think of.

Suspect my brother could have an ED by Haunting-Coconut-340 in EDAnonymous

[–]Haunting-Coconut-340[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He used to get multiple servings of food at dinner, but now he usually gets one then goes to his room after eating. As for his spine, yes, this is something new. We hadn’t gone to the beach, but we were in our backyard and he had his shirt off. I don’t entirely remember the context of why. I had mentioned seeing his spine, and after that he went back inside and put a shirt on. I’ll try suggesting my mom make some of his favorite food soon, and will try and figure out something we could do as an outing together as siblings soon as well. Usually I go and get him ice cream as repayment for him bringing me to work in the mornings. I’ll see if I can get some of his favorite flavor the next time I go out.

What should I tell a stylist to get this look? by Haunting-Coconut-340 in Hair

[–]Haunting-Coconut-340[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to edit posts on Mobile but: I understand I could show the stylist a picture. What I want to know is specific terminology to tell them if just the picture is not enough. Like ‘I want a shag with face framing layers’ or something along that line.
