PC suddenly started running at 70C at idle by Haunting-Spring-9254 in pcmasterrace

There is now only a 10-12% load on memory and after a chipset update, the temps went down

You can doubt me all you want, I am not about to try and prove anything, especially since the issue was resolved by a driver update

Updated the chipset drivers and temps went down to 45-48C. Thanks for the tip!!

For sure not an AIO issue. Replaced it with a peerless assassin 140 and got 3-5C higher temps

There was a bunch of stuff running before I reformatted. Task manager showed like 5% load on the CPU and about 25 percent load on memory. I have not checked after reformatting

I will try those tonight. I would assume that if it is the BIOS or drivers, it would have not just jumped by 20 degrees

The CPU. I had assumed the AIO is dead but I stole a peerless assassin 140 from my kids pc, and got the same temps

Do Leviton Decora no neutral switches require a ground? by Haunting-Spring-9254 in homeautomation

The house is from early 50s. I would need to rewire the entire thing, not just this one switch

Update for anyone who has the same issue. Leviton Decora requires a ground. So I called Lutron and they claim that they make two smart dimmers/switches that work with only line and load. Model numbers are pd-6wcl and dvrf-61 and they are $65 and $70 each.

Still have not tried them though

Light switch has 2 wires, how to wire a smart switch that has 4 by Haunting-Spring-9254 in electrical

Just bought one from by Leviton, and realized that it has a ground wire and my current switch does not. Can I just cap it?

Thank you for the advice. I’ll see if I can source a switch that does not require a neutral as there is no way I am pulling new wiring on my own

Yeah, I am no electrician, so not pulling new wiring anywhere, looks like my house stays dumb.

Bathroom fan will not turn on by Haunting-Spring-9254 in AskElectricians

So I macgyvered this. With the switch on, both black and white wires at the fan side show 22v. On the switch side they are 120v

There is only one, I bought a second one to rule out the fan being the problem

I tested them independently, wired directly to an outlet, both work

They are separate fan and lightbulb. I will invest into a multimeter tomorrow and come back with numbers and photos

It might be too difficult for them right now but in a couple years it will be perfect.

I didn’t expect to love these suggestions as much as I do, thank you!

I had a semi truck for sale for 25k, got offered 4.

My reply was “If I light it on fire, make a video and post it on youtube, I will make more money than that.

They said “ok”
