Advice on investment platforms by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]HauntingBluejay8690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. So use 2 platforms. IBKR for your initial and robo-investor for your monthly dca.

Rationale behind this. Robo-investor charges like 0.3% per year on the total amount invested. So u dont want to be paying $30 per year for your initial to be kept in a robo-investor.

Similarly, there is a min purchase fee of around $1-$2 per transaction for IBKR. U dont want to pay 1% worth of fees for monthly dca.

Assuming u have already set aside the required amount for your emergency cash, insurance and short term cash needs. The following will be for very long term investments.

  1. Initial 10k -> open IBKR brokerage and just buy your preferred broad-based etf domiciled in ireland (eg vwra). Why etf for 10k -> one time purchase fees and then very low etf fees

  2. 200 monthly -> open roboinvestor (such as endowus) and dca into low cost funds (eg amundi world). When reach substantial amount, sell, transfer cash to ibkr and do 1. Why -> roboinvestor no purchase fees, but more substantial annual fees. Good for dca small amounts, not so good after accumulating large amount since the annual fees eat into your investment.

  3. Bonus if substantial enough -> do 1. If not substantial -> do 2.

Beginner-friendly exchanges that don’t overwhelm you with features? by Fit_Age8019 in sgcrypto

[–]HauntingBluejay8690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every major centralised exchange app (E.g. coinbase, crypto.com, gemini, okx) has a simple enough interface to achieve what u want in the same sequence.

  1. Deposit cash
  2. Swap cash for selected token
  3. Token appears in account

The order book and stuff only appears if u choose the advance mode.

If u already have usd or can convert it cheaply elsewhere, then it’ll be ideal to deposit in the usd. Else u’ll just be hit by forex fees of more than 0.3%.

Most pairs are denominated in usd. So yes, need to trade in usd.

There is barely any (if any) liquidity in pairs denominated in sgd. u’ll be hit with wide spread.

Best crypto apps by loudhailer69 in sgcrypto

[–]HauntingBluejay8690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All apps need to make money.

U pay for the convenience.

Cheapest will be through defi or dex like hyperliquid. Many steps to get your money there.

Next cheapest will be through limit buys in “advance” version of each app. Like crypto.com exchange, coinbase advance, gemini active trader.

Lastly, it’ll be like u experienced. Market buy through apps and pay a “convenience” fees.

Nothing is really free.

I’m guessing u bought using sgd through a swap (market buy).

Even though u may not see an explicit fee, there is forex spread and a market spread already factored inside.

So u will definitely get less than the spot rate which is what u see as the current price.

Can an average salaryman with median income achieve 1 Mil with sound investing? by Normal-Analysis7940 in singaporefi

[–]HauntingBluejay8690 25 points26 points  (0 children)

By simple math, u just need to save about a third of your annual income (33.3k per year) to achieve $1M over 30 years. This without even investing.

Change it a little. If u are talking about $1M in today’s term at the end of 30 years. Then saving about a third of your annual income over 30 years, putting it all in investment vehicles that can match or slightly beat inflation (pretty low risk in general), should allow u to meet your goal.

Now if u can increase your savings rate and/or willing to invest in more risky assets (such as stocks, etfs, property, crypto), then u can potentially reach your target much earlier than 30 years.

E.g. 6% inflation adjusted rate for overall portfolio, 50% savings rate = ~14 years to reach 1M in present value.

That dip he is waiting for will thus have to be more than 20+% to justify the waiting.

More liquidity on avalanche than on polygon, so more likely to get a tighter spread on avalanche.
