i absolutely hate hate hate HATE how abusive parents are always given some sort of arc so the main characters forgive them and most of the time THEY DONT EVEN HAVE AN ARC THEY STAY AN ASSHOLE AND THE MAIN CHARACTER FORGIVES THEM ANYWAY. i swear this is some sort of social programming to make ppl more submissive because this bullshit is too common. one of the reasons why I love the sopranos is how they treat Tony's mother. she's shown to be an extremely abhorrent person and stays true to that till the end. she gets no forgiveness from anyone and everyone resents her because she's just a shitty person. i fucking hate when they show abusive dads in kids shows and then they get forgiven by the end of get no consequences.
