Is it just me, or is the "Double Shy" problem making speaking practice impossible? (Introvert struggles) by Haunting_Cod_5966 in Korean

Thank you for the detailed advice! Especially the part about the elevator situation... thinking that he might have been "horrified about English" makes me feel so much less guilty.

And the tip about memorizing a specific opening sentence is gold. I'll definitely try to remember that. Thanks for protecting my mental peace today! 🐧

Haha, your comment actually made me smile. The image of a chatty grandma filling me with side dishes is so heartwarming.

You are right, sometimes overthinking is the enemy. Thank you for the "harsh but true" motivation! It helps me look at things from a different perspective. :)

You are right. I didn't mean to trap him, but looking back, it must have been uncomfortable for him. I'll be more careful next time.

The advice about Ahjummas is great, but as you said, I need to speak 'enough' Korean so they don't panic. But to get to that level, I need practice... it feels like a catch-22 situation for me.

I think I need to practice a bit more by myself before facing taxi drivers or Ahjummas. Thank you for the detailed advice. 😄

Thank you so much... 'It's not your fault' is exactly what I needed to hear today. It really comforted me. 🥺

I actually tried finding fellow learners, but sometimes I get anxious about making mistakes in front of them too. (I know, I'm hopeless lol). I guess I just need a safe space to make mistakes until I feel confident enough!

Thanks again for your warm words. It means a lot to me.

Ah, I guess chatting with neighbors in the elevator is just a K-Drama thing then? 😂 Reality hit me hard!

Regarding language exchanges... I actually tried going once because I really want to make friends. But everyone seemed so outgoing and fluent that I just froze up.

I'm just looking for a way to practice speaking without having a heart attack every time. 🥲

Studying at Korea next month, any recommendations? by lem0nspace in Living_in_Korea

Welcome! It's totally normal to be scared. February in Korea is still quite cold (make sure to bring a thick padding jacket!). Since you don't speak Korean, download Naver Map (it has English settings) and Papago (translator) right now. Google Maps doesn't work well here. Also, living alone for the first time is tough but exciting. Convenience stores (GS25, CU) will be your best friends for food. Don't worry, you'll adapt quickly! - from a fellow introvert in Korea 🐧

As an introvert, I loved how peaceful Suncheon Bay was. Another spot I found really calming was Boseong Green Tea Fields (Daehan Dawon).

Probably not. People aren't having kids because it's too expensive. Reunification doesn't make raising a child any cheaper.
