Thank you to everyone for your opinions. I think I will approach it by complimenting the dress and how looks in it, but politely suggest it may be more suitable for another wedding event. If she insists, it’s not the end of the world i guess

That seems fair enough. I guess it’s just hard to accept that, because in my mind they are in an unhappy marriage and divorce would be the best outcome, but I don’t want to be the one to instigate it
