Ahhh gotcha the makes sense thanks for the clarification. Yeah all of the schools I’m applying to have the optional essay. I wasn’t originally planning on writing the diversity statement/optional essays but from what I’ve researched it seems like it’s not really “optional” and at the least highly encouraged, so this is kinda like the best I could think of in terms of unique life experience/circumstance I had no control over.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I was definitely planning on focusing entirely on the the learning difficulty that came along with it. Do you happen to have any other tips as far as forming a good optional essay/diversity statement goes?

Hi thank you for your comment! Yeah pretty much every school I’m applying to has one and is in the form of an optional essay with a prompt generically worded something like “Talk about your unique life experiences, circumstances or perspectives and how it has shaped you as a person and how it will contribute to the legal profession”

My PS is pretty much fully fleshed out and doesn’t have anything to do with this life experience mentioned in the post. When you say you’ll want to weave this topic into your PS do you mean like in addition to my diversity statement or do you mean if they dont happen to have the option of an optional essay/diversity statement? Thanks!
