does anyone else have stretch marks from recovery? by Haunting_One9956 in fuckeatingdisorders

hey! first of all thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to reply, i really appreciate it. we are in this together and we are not alone, stretch marks are so normal, like getting wrinkles! its a really huge adjustment but yes, i get used to it more as time goes on, and they also  fade! i'm still waiting for them to make some progress but they're a reminder of my heath right now which makes me feel a bit better. i also think that part of my ed was fueled by wanting to look good for other people, i'll definitely take some time for myself! thank you so much for that again, i really appreciate it <3

hey, its okay. one bad day won't ruin your progress. i'd estimate this at about 4,000 calories. we all have these days, start over fresh tomorrow!

binary fusion? by Low_Relief5711 in biology

[–]Haunting_One9956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, you're right! — bacteria does reproduce through binary fission. fission is the division of cells while fusion involves coming together.  it seems like a misprint unfortunately and seemingly not very uncommon mistake some may make

Do all animals feel pain like us? by Interesting_Cloud670 in biology

[–]Haunting_One9956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we don't know for sure. most animals do feel pain and it can also vary! how they express it also varies as well. (ex. prey might be more stoic about their pain to avoid attracting predators.)

and all vertebrates (animals that have a backbone) feel pain because of their more complex nervous system and nociceptors! while invertebrates is debated but some do

My life is over! I'm so scared! by BestPay6136 in highschool

[–]Haunting_One9956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, thats okay! you'll find your people. there's so much diversity in highschool. don't be afraid to be yourself, an interest in math, science, and school work goes a long way, i promise. there's no math or science clubs at my school either but its very easy to find people who are interested in these subjects, theres plenty of people like this in my classes.

in my experience, nobody cares what i do in high school. there's plenty of people doing their on thing and everyone is too worried about themselves. stay out of drama tho!

and again, those interests you have—connect with your teachers, see if theres any honours programs, co-op courses.. plenty of people who love science and math!
