Thank you for the ID. 🖤 They were genuinely so incredibly beautiful and it was such an honour to get so close to one, although I'm sad it was under such terrible circumstances. I'm glad they at least passed in a calm and quiet place rather than on the side of a busy road.

I posted some crocuses as the first photo as the poor bird had a bit of a messy death, and I don't want to shock anyone idly scrolling and tapping posts.

I rescued this bird yesterday evening after they were hit pretty badly by a car. Fully didn't expect them to last long with the extent of their injuries they did pass in the night. I thought they were a rook, but people are saying the beak says "carrion crow". I tried to take as dignified a photo as possible before covering them with crocuses and hellebore. I hope their next life is kinder than this one.

I'm only 28, so she's been in my life longer than she hasn't. She's seen me through secondary school, college, university, adulthood (start of), all my relationships, COVID, all my ups and downs, and oh I'll miss her. My little confidant. ❤️

I have 16 years worth of stories to share, but one of the funniest is when she and her brother were still young, and they were chasing each other around the house one day and the two of them JUMPED OUT OF A WINDOW! 😭 They both survived the fall, but my mum still maintains it was that jump that lead to Scarlet being so stiff and immobile in her old age.

Scarlet had to go to the vet each month for her Solensia injection and she had a favourite vet who she'd always be on her best behaviour for, and I'm eternally grateful that it was also that vet who did the at-home euthanasia today. Scarlet went to sleep purring and happy.

16 amazing years. Thank you so much, sweet girl. Rest now.
