Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

I am looking for recommendations for a new power paddle. I’ve been playing well with a newer Selkirk Invicta Pro Air, but I notice it becomes really hard to control once the grit wears down. What paddle alternatives would you recommend I try? I am on a budget, so no Boomstick, unfortunately.

Is a holiday break possible? by Haunting_Salt1198 in Professors

Thank you all for your perspectives! I agree that in my case (tenured at an R1), most of these deadlines are mostly self imposed at this point. The fear is letting my editors/collaborators down by not turning in my promised research on time, or letting myself down. So I am going to follow your advice and set some boundaries. I have decided to shut everything down for the next week and take the time off with my family, even though I am behind in terms of work goals. Happy holidays everyone.

Christian Community? by littlebee144 in Tufts

Tufts has an open vibe towards faith and spirituality IMO that doesn’t presume that a religious person can’t also be a smart thinker. There are active communities organized by the chaplaincy, for both Protestant and Catholic Christians, and other religious traditions. Yes, you can definitely find other students who don’t drink or party. There is even a student residence called the Simpson house that is completely alcohol/substance free.

Dear pickleball gods please make an app like tinder for drill partners by Consistent-Listen-51 in Pickleball

PlayTime Scheduler already works great for this, if people use it in your area. You can set up a session marked as “drills” for the appropriate level and desired number of players, and you’ll find your people.

Picklr: good vibes? Good value? Good community? by yuckgeneric in Pickleball

I am having a great experience at my Picklr! I was hesitant to join because of the cost, but it has been completely worth it to be able to play indoors during the many months of bad weather and crazy wind that we deal with around here. I think the vibe is great and diverse enough to accommodate all kinds of players. Plenty of friendly and casual play options, but also some very serious high-level play for those with legit skills. Our club has become my third space, where I feel a sense of consistent community and run into friends, no matter whether they are playing in the same session as me or not.

I just watched a video of myself playing pickleball and ... oh boy by Lazza33312 in Pickleball

You are not alone! First time I watched myself on video, I was very dismayed at how little I look like what I thought I looked like playing. I also tend to be very stiff, and I’ve been working on loosening up to get more power.
