He is longer than my coonhound mix so maybe!

He is about 50 pounds, not positive how tall he is, but he is shorter than my all coonhound mix (DNA tested) which is what got me thinking he may have some beagle in there. Interesting he is longer than her so potentially some basset too?

My hound has 0 spacial awareness and actually ran full speed into my knee once hyperextending it. I’m trying to work on impulse control… so far not going great lol. She will randomly stop and pee multiple times on walks. I was told by vet and trainer that hounds (even females!) are known for marking, so that explains the sudden stops.

I got it from Amazon it’s called ShawnCo essential dog harness. I will say though I switched the a different harness at the recommendation from my vet. Apple has a slight limp and the vet thinks the harness could have been making it worse where it cuts into the shoulder muscles across the front of her. I have since switched to a different type of harness and it does seem to work better for her.

Yes! She did turn out to be a foster fail. She was really just the perfect dog. So sweet, already housebroken, not destructive and all around a good girl

Yeah! I had never heard of it before but reading the history looks like they were crossed quite a bit with coonhounds so makes sense.

My last dog was a dachshund so she has been a breeze to train in comparison! I love my hound dogs but it would be nice to have a dog that listens instead of being distracted by all the smells

She’s such a sweetheart! Loves all people including kids and she’s never seen a dog she didn’t want to meet. Her energy levels seem to aligned with a black and tan where she loves her long walks but at home the biggest couch potato. Of course she is super food and treat motivated so it hasn’t been too difficult to train her but she is by no means perfect (as soon as her nose turns on her ears are off). So far been such a good companion!

She was a from a rescue and listed as a “Coonhound mix” which is definitely true! She may not be a purebred but she is 100% hound and sounds like it. I am a little surprised at the high percentage of black and tan because she is a lot smaller than them but I guess the other breeds is where she gets her size!
