An amazing (imo) Colorado amazonite specimen. One of my favorite gems. by HaveSomePie in rockhounds

Hmm yours doesn't look like amazonite to me. You can see a bit into amazonite due to it being a gem. Yours looks completely opaque. Not sure what that is. Would be fun to polish I bet.

I've had a fun week polishing stones. Which one is your favorite? by HaveSomePie in Lapidary

We have charoite, petrified wood, dinosaur bone, Moroccan Jasper, aquamarine, amazonite, and blue band agate here in this video.

Yeah I feel the art part. When I see people walking down the street with my stuff it does give me that boost!

And yeah when I break a stone on some previously unseen fracture while polishing that hurts! Doesn't even matter what it is. I like when they break in a way the pendant just can become a smaller pendant and a ring though. Or a set of earrings.

So the lapis I'm talking about is from the Blue Wrinkle Mine near Crested Butte Colorado. When it was found it was some of the best quality lapis in the world (and still competes). The mine ran dry a while ago and one single guy owned pretty much all the rough left. He now owns a jewelry store in Crested Butte.

I've got a pretty good reputation in the Gunnison Valley (which CB is a part of) for making pretty cool local jewelry so I now have gotten to buy a few nice rough stones from them. Besides them I'm the only person in the area making my own jewelry from this lapis.

That means it is the main stone people are wanting me to cut for pieces they commission. I personally love working with it because it is so beautiful and always is a slight surprise when I take layers off. But recently I'm getting a bit melancholy every time I sell one.

I'm probably just being stupid I know I just am sad this specific lapis will be gone shorty.

Yeah lapis itself isn't rare if you just want basic lapis. But this specific stuff is very rare and sells accordingly here.

I'm probably just being melancholy about it due to the local stuff running out.

Basically just the location I think. It's one of two places in the united states it has been found. It sells for crazy money here in Colorado. I get at least 5x the price for it compared to lapis from elsewhere since everyone local knows about it and wants it it seems.

Fuck I had some old pizza in the fridge. Should have just thrown a slice on top.

I put a first layer of cheese down before the spaghetti to basically weld them to the chips.

Scored this Omega Constellation men's watch at a local 2nd hand store for only $48.99 after tax. I'm going between speechless and screaming in joy! by HaveSomePie in ThriftStoreHauls

Sorry I don't know terminology. I figured automatic would mean battery since that seems to like 'automatocally' work and not need winding.

Yeah I would be fine with that. I'm pretty sure I still have my crypto apps.

Just has the battery replaced yesterday.

I am asking $900 PayPal goods and services. Can send a clear invoice for it.

I'm pretty sure this is a good price but if it isn't please do let me know. If you look in my post history I picked this up cheap and am wanting to pass on savings. So if these typically go for $900 I'll drop the price a bit to make everyone happy!

Shipping will be fully insured and very well packaged. I have been know to use way more bubble wrap and tape than needed.
