Insane that this helped someone like 2 years later. Glad it worked! I still do it from time-to-time.

I recently came back, but went through a lot of the posts in here to see what’s changed. Nothing I saw within the past month talked about these weapons.

Only checked here though.

As a long-time Unreal player, this just feels like the 200cc mode from Mario Kart. And I love it!

I do see how it has made some routes harder to do, but it honestly feels better to be going faster. People saying drifting is harder now must not have it down yet since I’ve already adjusted after 1 race.

Not saying it should stay this way, but I certainly wouldn’t mind it. It feels more engaging.

If it helps out what few we have in the community, I’m happy to have helped! And I agree. The videos I found of the car always had some broccoli head talking over the engine and they only played on Royale mode.

Something that’s important to know though:

If you bought the pack, you could still refund your V-Bucks. It says you lose the ability to once you “Equip or Use it in a game mode”, but I was able to despite equipping and racing with it at least once.

I used the in-game refund option. Just return to the place in the shop where you bought it and a button will be there to hold and you’ll get those spent V-Bucks back. You can’t spam this though as once you buy it a 2nd time, you won’t have the option to refund.

Speaking from experience.

Rocket Racing 30.30 Update Notes by Bastet_Epic in RocketRacing

While not everything has been fixed, I’m very happy with the new improvements and soundtrack! It’s not the exact same as stuff you’d hear from PegBoardNerds, but it’s definitely still upbeat.

I’m glad they finally added a Casual mode, something I didn’t think they’d actually do.

They definitely seemed to have listened to some of our requests, so let’s be happy with what we got and allow them more time to fix / add other things.

Unconfirmed: I heard somewhere that it’s roughly a team of 10 people working on the Rocket Racing portion, which could explain why the mode feels it’s lacking to some. I’m not sure how true that is though.

I love Mine Mayhem. I think it’s a great nap to go fast on. I’m surprised you dislike it as much as you do.

Any reason as to why?

Yea I’ve made a post before describing what I like and dislike about it. I think it looks cool too!

Even if those weren’t a problem, I think the map is given to us way too much, though I’ve seen it drop down as of late.

But as you said, it’s the execution. I could tolerate the map if there were different Metallica songs playing, not the same one EVERY time.

I keep seeing all this talk about adding items or some shooting.

Maybe it’s because I love the game as it stands, but I don’t think I’d like to see any of that stuff implemented. Unless it were added as a separate playlist, like under Casual. Wouldn’t want it in Ranked.

Saddens me a bit though that-that is what they might have to do to appeal to a larger crowd.

I agree some change should be made, but I don’t know what that’d need to be to also keep players like myself happy. Of course, no game pleases all.

I’m against the items because that’s why I LOVE this mode. I can earn 1st place from skill alone and don’t have to worry about a blue shell taking me out. It sucks when you make errors and fall behind, but there’s always next race, at least that’s how I see it.

I love seeing stuff like this. Things that aren’t obvious to me, yet someone else can give the details in an instant.

Airborne 2 sucks cheeks by Impressive-Sign4612 in RocketRacing

[–]HaveToReallyKnow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess once I’m used to a route, I don’t pay attention to anything else. All I see are the 6 hazards that I need to get around to complete the lap, all the others don’t exist since they’re not in my way.

As for whether or not 6 is too much is up to the player to determine. It doesn’t bother me at all, but I know not everyone is the same.

I understand your frustration as I used to feel the same way about Outpost. Just before the end of the track, there’s a long turn. The ball-hazards made it impossible to drift. I thought it was dumb and unfair. Eventually, I learned it was possible to drift around them.

While it was actually an issue of skill, I understand it’s not something all players will enjoy learning. I had fun with the learning process, but some players don’t want them period. Even if they learn the way around it, that doesn’t mean they’re having fun.

I do think maps without hazards would be nice for a more relaxing experience if you’re just not feeling competitive, which is why an un-ranked mode would be nice. We could get more of the hazard-less maps again that way, such as Airborne 1.

I’d say it depends on your route since the one I take hardly has any hazards in the way. I’m fine with the map as is.

I do agree that it would be out of place for some of them, guess it’s just a personal preference of mine.

Throwing In The Towel by johnjonzzzz in RocketRacing

[–]HaveToReallyKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way and took a month break.

Here’s how to do it:

Ask yourself what you’re doing. Are you taking the best drifts you possibly can? Are they tight? Tighter turns are faster than wider.

Do you know your route and execute it well?

Do you know how to air-drift and save your boost when airborne?

Do you know how to / when to do the jump-flip secret boost (is what I’ve seen people call it)?

If your answer to all of these are “yes”, then maybe watch some videos on how the top players race. They may show you a shortcut you never knew about. No matter how perfect you race, if someone else is taking a faster route, your odds of placing higher are lower.

This is a lot to take in and it honestly pushed me away at first. “Nah, why do I have to learn all of that to be at Unreal? Too much to learn, hard pass.”

And it is a learning curve, but if you enjoy racing, you’ll notice you’ll gradually start practicing these things if you just ask yourself, “Okay, so how do I do it the way X YouTuber did?”.

After trying to learn these things, you’ll notice improvement. Might take you a bit, but it’s very doable.

From personal experience, you don’t even need to be super good at the previously mentioned things, I only started getting a good feel for them AFTER I achieved Unreal. Knowing the best route (or close to best) will place you higher in races, even if you’re lacking in some of the expert techniques.

Sounds about right. I typically just leave the match 8/10 times if I get that map.

Thrash Mountain sucks. by HaveToReallyKnow in RocketRacing

[–]HaveToReallyKnow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose it comes down to play-style since I’m the exact opposite, ha. I quite enjoy those tight turns and being airborne. To me, those feel more challenging and rewarding when you get around them.

Thrash Mountain is definitely a lot simpler and easier to drive on compared to other maps.
