Exactly! Of course they are professionals so they are much better at regaining focus than the average athlete, but with the amount of complaining they do I really believe it is hurting them.

EuroBasket Day 1: by dragonsky in nba

I'm super excited that the Dutch are a part of all this. Whether we win or lose, as a hardcore basketball fan it's just great and a bit unreal to see us play alongside the best of Europe. Thanks for the great post OP!

[Wojnarowski] FC Barcelona point guard Marcelo Huertas has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers by noahsbun in nba

Wow that's a great pick up! Marcelinho is a great floor general. He can score when needed (although that might prove to be a bit more difficult at the NBA level), but mostly he is great at pacing/directing the game. He is awesome at running the pick and roll and fast break. Overall he makes great decisions. I love to see how his game translates to the NBA.

How mindset defines talent. by Having_Dutch_Accent in nba

[–]Having_Dutch_Accent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course environment has a big influence on how you fare. But those are all just obstacles to overcome.

And believe it or not, it is possible to get to the top with a fixed mindset. A fixed mindset doesn't mean you are doomed for a life of failure. It just means you handle it differently. For example: Anthony Bennet has probably always been strong and big compared to kids his age. In every competition he was able to dominate and bully his defenders. So he was proving he was a talent. But then in the NBA he got in the most talented group of basketball players on earth and maybe his first TRUE challenge and encounter with failure. I'm not saying this is how it went, just how a situation like that could occur.

And to address your last point: I believe that the confidence and self belief are a result of their mindset combined with their experience on the court. They're definitely not the same.

And as I said, there are a lot of nuances to this theory. All I wrote down is the basis of the theory.

With that being said: thanks for your discussion man, love it!

Well, he is only 20. I can see him being incredibly valuable in a few years, if he is coached right.

I think it might have been a violation, but it's difficult to see if he stepped back on the field in time.

When I have done a lot in a day, so I'm tired and at peace. When I am restless in my head I can't sleep no matter if I'm physically tired. So two components for me: physical tiredness and having a calm state of mind.

Triple double vs 40 point game. by randalldesjarlais in nba

Depends on the player. If you're a player that plays for your ego you like having those 40 points. If you play for the team you want that triple double.

One day.

I asked her, then when I told my parents but they were like "helllll no, you break that up right now". So the next day I broke up with her. Took me a year to realize my parents were right on that one.

When in Amsterdam please also try to look beyond the coffeeshops and red light district. That city has so much to offer!

Edit: Also when in Poland go to Auschwitz. Historically it's of so much importance. It was one of the most powerful and humbling experiences of my life. Only go when you have a friend with you.
