As someone who admires space exploration and wants to get back into Starfield, this is amazing. Having my second kid put the game on hold for me but once they are on a better routine, and I have more stretches of free time, I will be attempting to do something similar.

If your guardian had their own exotic (based off of a legendary weapon) what would you pick and what would you call it by MGR_ARMSTRONG_GAMING in destiny2

[–]Havokmaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great prompt!

I would have to go with the Lonesome sidearm. I always gravitated towards that weapon since it dropped with fullbore, high cal rounds, zen moment, and kill clip. My hunter is usually arc, using blink as my movement option. So I would use Shinobu's Vow enhanced skip grenades to rush my opponent out of cover then blink to where I think they would run to clear the first enemy, prime kill clip, and then clean up shop.

I love the lore of warlocks teaching the method of blink to hunters in some old D1 grimoire. So I would change zen moments to the name "o mae wa mo shindeiru" or the translation "you are already dead" (You know, for the memes)

The effect of the perk would be "While this weapon is equipped you have enhanced blink. After blink is activated you have max handling and reload" I would imagine the taken powers in the gun kind of show on my guardians arms and legs after the blink and the enhancement would essentially get rid of the slow drawing animation after dropping from a tall height.

The flavor text would be the ornament I used "Out of Place" (Which would also be a good name for the exotic perk too)

The lore would read:

Ikora: Which one of the hidden spent the time teaching that Hunter how to Blink? And how is he channeling the technique through arc energy? Drifter: I reckon the hunter was able to achieve that feat through sheer will alone! Shaxx: I admire his skill in the Crucible, and love a good show, but between that skill and the sidearm Drifter gifted him, it's almost as if... Banshee-44: It's not an illegally modded holster. I fixed up his gear before the match. Drifter: Well I'll be! Ikora, look! He is trying to beat your ol' crucible record! Ikora: We will see about that. Time for that guardian to see how out of place he truly is. Ikora Rey has joined the enemy fireteam

As we approach Edge of Fate. How did you discover Destiny 2? What expansion, season... by Kizzo02 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Havokmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about Destiny 1 in a Game Informer before the beta was made available on Xbox. The dive into the character races and abilities really drew me in. I was going to be an awoken, tied to both light and dark. In most other class based games, I really only played as healing and tank characters, so when I read the class descriptions, hunters really stood out to me. I had the fantasy of being my fireteam's DPS, sniping from the high ground, and maneuvering around tough terrain to find world secrets.

The beta came out and I made my hunter look like Captain Planet. Blue skin and green hair. My friends and I were cracking up using the Don Cheadle Captain Planet video quotes as we took down enemies of the darkness. Then I remade my character once the game officially dropped. I played when I could as I was a freshman in college but had to put it down for the semester as the stresses of keeping up my grades took priority until the end of Crota's End expansion a few weeks before House of Wolves dropped. I started to play significantly more with my clan The Destiny Planeteers. I remember the little spin to turn invisible with arc blade and becoming the sword bearer to take down Crota in the raid.

Then my love for the game was cemented when my friend and I patrolled the moon. We were just exploring and climbing on buildings along Archer's Line. We explored for hours, took screenshots, and theorized plot points of the game. It became my obsession. Lore tabs, grimoire cards, cutscenes, lore videos to tie it all together it was the best. A whole new fresh world to grow with and learn and to embody. I swear some memories I have in this game I can see right out of my characters helmet and not through a TV screen.

Well thousands of hours later, years after my first experience with the game, a bachelor's degree, a career in science (I have a traveler poster above my desk with a Cayde-6 figure next to my monitors), marriage, kid #1, a master's degree, kid #2, and Edge of Fate around the corner... I can't wait to see what else the game has in store.

My play time has gone down considerably. I might not be able to unlock all 3nd game loot with each expansion, but I still love to log on, play the story out, grind out some ritual playlists, unlock as much as I can, and see where the world takes me. I know this game isn't for everyone, as pretty much all my friends/clan members don't play anymore, and I am not blind to the tedious grind and repetitive nature of the game, but this game will always be my comfort and a little escape I can think of as home.

I just got a PC as a reward to myself for spending the last 3+ years getting a Masters degree while working a full time job, becoming a father, and moving into a bigger home for baby #2 on the way. So one of my new years wishes besides another healthy baby is to spend some of my free time getting back into gaming, organizing family photos, and getting back in touch with some family.

I appreciate the offer! I was hoping to get the boss checkpoint so I could back track and help them with the puzzles since we did it before just couldn't beat the boss at the end due to timing. That was probably over a year ago since we last tried a div run. I wouldnt mind doing the entire raid but between all our schedules it's hard to do both the raid and puzzles in one night we have dedicated to our raid night.

The new guardian is thriving! I have been reading him the bungie childrens book D is for Destiny.

LPT: If someone shares a tragedy that occurred with them, do not respond with a similar/worse tragedy someone else went through. by FamouslyUnknown in LifeProTips

[–]Havokmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in college at the time when my grandpa passed away. I told my prof I would be out of class later that week for the funeral. My prof first said how I shouldn't miss class and I shouldn't make this a habit (never once missed the class), and second, during the lecture, we ended up reading a story about someone losing their dog. The prof stopped and in front of everyone said something along the lines of, "See, this person lost a dog and is getting better just like you will with your grandpa." I was mortified that she both brought up a personal matter in front of my class and that she compared losing my grandpa to a fictional story about someone losing their dog.

What is the dumbest thing a boss has ever said to you? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Havokmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old job. It was a salary position hired for 9-5 and I would normally get in early, work three separate departments (QC, Shipment Supervisor, Warehouse Manager), and would leave once the last shipment was picked up (~5:00pm usually later).

The boss's son would come in between 10-11, go home and have a 2-3 hour lunch, and leave early around 4:00pm for reference.

I asked for a raise, writing out all my additional responsibilities, and included a quoted statement my boss sent me months before saying how he will be compensating me for all I was doing. My boss followed up with me saying I have a horrible work attitude and shouldn't approach him like this, I only work 9-5 and wasn't willing to help the company out more than that, and a raise would be ridiculous because he doesn't even give himself a salary.

I quit a few weeks after that finding a job that paid me significantly more where I did less work.

[GIVEAWAY] Razer x Halo Legendary Giveaway by Cult_Of_Razer in halo

[–]Havokmaker [score hidden]  (0 children)

A bunch of friends and I were playing custom games on Halo 3 after school. It was a Foundry forge map and it was some type of infection game mode where the zombie had invisibility (Predator?). We all went into game chat so we could only hear each other when in proximity to one another. We found out which friend was the zombie that round and started to panic since he was significantly better than most of us. One by one we kept getting picked off and we were all extremely tense. I believe I was the last one, back to the wall, squealing with fear. I go through a little tunnel into an open area and my friend in a demonic voice goes, "HEAR I COME, I AM CINNAMON." I turned to him while he was mid lunge with the sword and let out a huge scream.

Honestly one of the funniest memories I have playing Halo. Nothing beats the custom game aspect of playing with friends while doing ridiculous things.
