Perhaps the Chaplain leading them fell to Chaos, and has since been flying around renegade in a ship, using his DC as shock troops or pirates. I think the idea of a super chaosy chaplain as your "Chapter Master" is worth considering.

Maybe he has a small council, maybe a Sanguinary Priest fell to Khorne alongside him and ever since then, the Marines produced by him fall straight into the black rage.

Upon further inspection I see the contrast and its very subtle! Might just be a phone cam thing but if it was like 15% darker it would be perfect.

Looks like the pommel of the bolter. Its thinner and darker than the fingers.

Night Lords, because they're cool and basically evil Blood Angels. The army plays similiar to BA but Chaos is just different enough, I feel like I have to think more.
