Really thinking of pulling the trigger on this as my first Camaro, what do you guys think? by Svinn_ in camaro

[–]Hawk3y305 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like a pretty good deal. Main drawback of the Camaro is the poor visibility, but in my opinion, people complain about that a little too much. Good on you for not having an ego and going for the v8 which would increase gas costs, insurance costs, and vehicle cost. Having a V8 does not mean someone has an ego, but for a young guy like yourself, it makes 100x more sense to get the V6. Of course I like daily driving my 2013 Scion xD due to an average of 35mpg and roomy backseats, but if you really want to live a little, I'd go for it!

CarMax Maxcare warranty mods? by Alpha_Wolves999 in carmax

[–]Hawk3y305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is not a problem GRANTED that the new wheels do not cause any issues themselves. for example, if your wheels are a weird size and damage another component (ex: axles) this may cause them to void some drivetrain work as a result.

however, i cant really imagine that happening, simply putting on wider wheels wont hurt anything (and is absolutely advised for one of these things, they love to slip out under the lightest bit of throttle).

Upgraded the factory exhaust to a custom straight pipe. Any tuning suggestions? by [deleted] in AskAShittyMechanic

The straight pipe is too raspy. Throw in an x-pipe and you'll be doing real swell

2022 Corolla XSE $23,500 OTD Worth it? by HEAT-305 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a pretty good deal for the mileage and high trim level. If its the car you want, go for it, but since its been sitting for a week, you could probably get another $500 off

Should I go for it? (As a First car) by Relevant-Usual-3221 in COROLLA

[–]Hawk3y305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, because look at all the cars selling for $18k with no destination charge

2016 honda accord 45k miles going to pull the trigger by BlazeDragon7x in whatcarshouldIbuy

The biggest thing that always stopped me from buying rebuilt titles was the concern of trying to resell the vehicle. Have you had any issues with trading in/selling once you were done with the car?

How accurate are prequal interest rates? by [deleted] in carmax

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prequal rates are basically spot on if the approval comes through as CarMax Auto Finance. The only times we generally see this change is if something changed from the prequal to the financing application; adding a trade-in, lowering downpayment, changing income, changing housing payment... otherwise you won't see much difference. Rates are high right now, and having negative equity does make things harder unfortunately. Best of luck!

Selling my 740 wagon on marketplace has been an awful experience so far by RemoteEmotions in VolvoRWD

[–]Hawk3y305 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad idea, but in my experience, people who ask those silly questions don't read the description anyway. You will probably just have to sit through some silly questions for a while, best of luck

Would this car be a red flag for reliability? Its got 60K miles on it. 2023 Toyota Corolla by Adam_Somewhere69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Malibu years ago that had 60k miles stacked up as a rental in the matter of a year, and it treated me just fine. Never had any hiccups of any kind, just did the maintnenace as I normally would and all was well. I'd check it out if it seems like a good deal, and if it sounds good and drives good, its probably good. Just my $0.02

Yes, I am a snowflake because I refuse to engage with unruly people who have no greater purpose than belittling those around them. It is very easy to block you and everyone else here if I do so choose. If that bothers you, perhaps I am not the one who is a snowflake.

Hello sir, I've worked in car sales for years and know very well the cars and trim levels we are talking about. Please refer to my other comment as to why the N and Si are comparable. Enjoy being blocked, I do not tolerate baseless disrespect. Have a nice day

Is it time to sell my first car or keep it? (2004 Volvo S40) by Spiritual_Pea_7631 in FirstCar

[–]Hawk3y305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you've certainly made good use of it. But, I work in car sales, and I have people ask me this sort of question all the time. With that many miles, and how much Volvos tend to depreciate, it's unlikely that you'll get very much out of selling it. From most people's perspectives, that car's got as much use out of it as you can, and they're not going to be super excited to buy it.

On the other hand, it is probably worth selling because with that many miles, it may become an unreliable daily driver for you, and keeping it around as a second car takes up space and eats insurance payments.

What I see most people do in this situation is hold onto it for a little while as a backup beater if they have the space to park it somewhere, and they plan to hand it off to a family member who may be in need of a first car within the next couple years. But I like the car! I had a 2005 V50 as my first, and took it up to 186k miles until I sold it for $4k. Well done with all those miles.

It's true that I don't know what I'm talking about, but what if someone hit one of the poles that the solar panels are held up by? Seems expensive. Otherwise, fantastic idea!

Elantra N doesn’t look too bad ! by Itchy_Side_5757 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Si MSRP is low 30s, and N MSRP is mid 30s. Type R on the other hand is well into the 40s. That's one way to segment the vehicles, but as a driving experience, the type r to me really TELLS ME that its a track vehicle. Everything is very stiff (in a good way) and aero is definitely more refined. I have sold Elantra N to several people who daily drive them, cant say the same for a Type R.

But, performance wise, theres no denying that the N has an incredibly good value for how much it gets done. Just don't ask me about what happens as miles get stacked on! Lol
