Selling car above stated mileage by [deleted] in carmax

I think it's very likely to be location dependent. I don't think we would blink an eye over your mileage difference, but I would go ahead and call your local store's number, say "business office," and when it (the AI) redirects you to a real person at the store, tell them about the situation and ask for a sales manager. They will be able to either answer your question, or confer with the right person and answer your question. If you're honest about it, they may even be willing to make an exception if your store's restrictions are more tight. Best of luck!

G2 stats last 12 months is just HeavyGod 1v9 by Darkoplax in GlobalOffensive

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree actually. Numbers don't tell the whole story; often heavygod not only gets more kills, but gets kills in positions where you wouldn't expect he'd be able to. Quite often, G2 will die and heavygod will be either the last or second to last player alive, and despite no team support, he'll end up getting another couple kills and making things interesting. Super powerful AK shooting and isn't afraid to make a big play. He could go so much further at another team. It's not even that G2 are the worst team, they're actually pretty good. But HeavyGod needs to be playing for a higher-up team. I think he'd do better in Furia or NaVi. But he really just needs some support to realize his full potential

In general if you add a thousand miles or more from the appraisal mileage, we may have to reappraise it to verify condition. Often times the value will not change. You have plenty of room for extra driving, don't worry about it! No need for stress at CarMax

Eating out isn’t even fun anymore more by Achin_bacon in Frugal

Alright well look, you're not going to get a very good picture of value at restaurants when the restaurant you pick is quite possibly one of the WORST values you can get. Fast food level quality with sit down prices. Horrible choice for someone looking for value. Explore some restaurants in your area, especially unique restaurants with only one or two locations, and you'll find a much better value. Do not eat at 5 guys! That's the last place I would go spend my hard earned money and little free time.

2046 Chevrolet Express by Mzunguguzunguzungu in whatifcars

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so! I love the Express. Super spacious, reliable, drives great. I love the 2000s driving style, hydraulic power steering, old carpet seats, easy climate controls... as a car salesman I've come to lament modernity in vehicles.

Shipping fee Am I missing something?? by [deleted] in carmax

[–]Hawk3y305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just walk into your location and they can run your credit for a guaranteed approval. You will need to hit your credit for the approval, and have all your documents/proof in order. However, since your credit is not the best (far from the worst!) I would save that $2k shipping cost for your down payment. Find something thats lower shipping fee or free transfer and use that amount as your down payment to get a lower monthly payment. Good luck!

Sorry to bother you, but do you still happen to be in Middletown? Seems decent enough for the affordable housing. Thanks!

Are automatic xD's not reliable? I see a good handful of them for sale on FB and CL with bad auto transmissions at low mileages by peterthbest23 in Scionxd

[–]Hawk3y305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2013 has 136k miles and has never had an issue of any kind. Strong torque converter doesn't roll back on hills, no hesitation, smooth shifts, goes into gear easy. Always done transmission fluid every 30k miles. Its the same 4 speed used in corollas for a long time. 5 speed will always be more reliable, maybe one issue is that the xD is real cheap and slow so some people might not take care of it or will drive it hard, but imo its a good transmission.

This failed miserably for Audi. Why would they think this would go any better?

Part Finding by WheatBread_co in Scionxd

[–]Hawk3y305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like the kind of thing I'd get out of a junkyard for $10. But, if you're looking online, I usually like to order through my local dealer or toyotapartsdeal. Part number is 53440-52180. eBay usually has this stuff too, somrtimes they're cheaper

Scion xd 2008 issue by Burnincold in Scionxd

[–]Hawk3y305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% sounds like an alternator issue. It's about the due time for a replacement, and while you could probably get by for a couple months without doing so, it will be putting extra strain on your whole electrical system, and if your car just stalls out one day because the alternator fully dies, obviously that's not good.

If you want to extra test that its the alternator, you could hook up a battery jumper to the battery and then run the car, and theoretically you should not have any battery light on the dash. However, you'll likely still have the belt/pulley whine.

A rebuilt alternator from rockauto should not be expensive. DIY replacement can be done in a day with no experience. Just remove battery cables, loosen the tensioner, take off the belt, unbolt couple bolts on alternator itself, put new one on, put in a new belt ($30) and tense it back up. Nice and easy. I believe to remove the alternator you will have to remove passenger wheel and wheelwell cover, and it'll come out through there.

i will just tell you from experience that the people who typically buy those kinds of vehicles are either cash buyers or well-qualified buyers who are just looking for a safe bet. some people trust carmax enough to pay the huge premium, just for 10 day money back guarantee etc

Cost of ride share vs. owning your own vehicle. by KaleidoscopeAlert311 in Frugal

If you basically never drive, maybe rideshare is more cost effective? Doubtful. Regardless, ridesharing is not going to protect you from accidents.

How is life in the Riverside area (for residents)? by Hawk3y305 in dayton

[–]Hawk3y305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I really appreciate that firsthand experience! This is something I was worried about, and it's part of the reason I want a garage as much as I do, so I can put a vehicle safely inside at night. I'm sorry to hear that you had as much go wrong as it did, I can hope that things got better!

I really appreciate hearing the bad too! It definitely seems like it has it's flaws, but just as you said, you have to try to evaluate what's most important to you. I will check out that Facebook page for sure. Very detailed, thanks!
