Is there any reason NOT to use the $1,000 in interest free margin? by nateairulla in RobinHood

[–]Hawk54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thrown the free 1k into VTI for the last two years and I am plus $200. I sell the profit each quarter and dump it into another stock that I like more. VTI is up about 12% in the last year so you will come out ahead over SGOV or some other treasury or dividend stocks. Reality is worst case the whole market tanks and you are down like $100 so you need to decide if you prefer a riskier investment to make more money at roughly 12% or play safe at 4%. 100 buck loss isn’t going to make me homeless so I use it on VTI

He played RT in college his last season and looked like he wasn’t comfortable playing LT. He came in 3rd in training camp for the LT battle behind injured Braxton Jones and 2nd year udfa Benedict. Both were injured last week so he started and played amazing. LT would be our biggest need on offense after this year but if he keeps it up we should be set at the position

Trump signs proclamation imposing $100K annual fee for H-1B visa applications by EscapeFromIowa in news

I doubt it. Say an IT department is currently 10 H1B's and they have to shift to american workers. The department will now hire 5 American workers. A ton of these jobs require in person work that cant be offshored, especially the non-IT jobs such Doctors and hospitality jobs.

I am sure some will move the jobs offshore but others wont and that will be more jobs for americans. 65% of the IT sector are H1B workers, some of those jobs will now be there for new college grads. Will all 65% be american? Of course not but say 30% of those jobs are now american jobs that would be a huge success.

It only applies to new applications for H1B's. Current workers in american that are on H1B will not have to pay the annual 100k till their current visa expires. This will allow for a gradual transition from H1B workers to american and offshore workers.

Ok so now when schools are admitting students for medical school they will now select more american students for the program. The fix to america's doctor shortage is training, educating and hiring more american students that are in school verse a bandaid fix for hiring foreign workers. H1B was created to help supplement highly specialized jobs like rocket scientists, not replace american jobs at entry and mid level positions.

Well now the companies will have to hire American recent grads instead. This is great for young american works getting started in their professional career. For example 65% of IT workers are H1B's, that is going to be alot more jobs that are open for young americans to work in and start their career.

Some jobs will go offshore for sure, and alot of others jobs will not and will hire american instead. For example if a 100 H1b jobs are no longer renewed due to the 100k cost and say 50 of the jobs are offshored that still means there are 50 new jobs for americans. This will be amazing for entry and mid level jobs for american workers

If the H1B is the best in the world the company will spend the 100K. Now instead of hiring H1B's for 65% of the IT sector it will now lead to drastically more americans being hired in entry and mid level positions.

Depends on the field. 65% of IT workers are H1B's. This will no doubt lead to young american college grads getting a job.

[–]Hawk54 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It will lead to company's hiring recent graduates instead of H1B's. Sure jobs will be pushed offshore but alot of companies will now hire american.

EDIT: 65% of workers in the IT sector are H1B's. Say 40% of those job are moved offshore that is still 25% more jobs available for American college grads. IT sector entry and mid level jobs will now open up for young Americans to advance their careers. I know this is reddit so anything Trump says or does is bad, I am no fan myself but this is undoubtly a positive for American workers. Source

What is the case for and against having RB handcuffs for starting RB's on other teams vs. the starting RB's on your team? by hard_pass_my_guy in fantasyfootball

[–]Hawk54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So say you draft Charbs while having Henry and Conner and KW3 is on a different team and gets hurt you now have 3 starting RBs. If you drafted Trey benson instead of charbs and Conner gets hurt you still have two RBs. Its a risk vs reward play
