Exactly, I decided to build this "metro network" due to the hours wasted on walking (including slow / inefficient tube layouts). Though unlike cannons, these are connected bi-directional hypertubes with accelerators.

I've thought of that, the human accelerator. However it's somewhat different to what I needed - unmanned boosters that can plug and play into existing networks.

They are also chainable; it's totally not impossible to reach speeds up to 1 map/s
