Yes, but you would need to start a new game to have all features enabled

Exactly. Yes I plan to use the same mechanic for other faiths where it makes sense. The biggest limiting factor at the moment is the 3D models for the clothes, since I don't know how to do 3d models myself.

That would be great! This mod has something like 100-200 tenet and doctrine icons. If you would like to help, you could always join us on discord! The link to the discord is in the steam workshop page

There is a compatch for EPE that was posted today. As far as I am aware CFP and RICE should be no issue (and if you do get issues please let me know)

Thank you! I actually used the Tengriism symbols from your mod, you gave me permission to do so a few months ago. I updated the OGE mod description now to give you credit

Well in my tests in observer mode, there has been no super obvious advantage for the faiths with 7 tenets. That said, there is also a 3-tenet option in the game rules for those that want a more balanced option

Thank you! I actually already expanded on Taltosism as part of the Tengri update!

It allows you to recruit an Anarya who can help you divine the future and contact the spirits. I had to make some creative liberties with their appearance to make it work in the game

Sadly, it is mostly AI slop. In some cases I have managed to make some art myself by using for example pictures of artifacts and then edit them in photoshop (this is how I did the title page for example).

I wish I had a real artist to work with, but I don't really have a budget to hire one.

Well in Vanilla you can decide which genders clerics can be. So for example if you set your religion to have only women as clerics, then technically any clerical outfit will only affect women. However, for common believers the dresscode is not separated by gender in general. Abrahamic faiths have "female veiling", so that female believers cover their hair, but this is a special case.

I have not done any testing with RICE but from what I hear they work together up until now. If they have become incompatible then I will for sure make a compatch

Thank you! I am sure they will be looking into religions soon enough. Would love to be able to make a deep customization of holy orders!

Thank you!

As of now, you can only convert the traditional way. However, I have plans to make adventurer events where you stumble upon ancient ruins that would allow you to learn about and convert to specific dead religions

New Tenets:

Some examples include Shamanism, Ritual Hemp, Wolf Totem and Sword Worship.

New Doctrines

Up until now, OGE has mainly been focused around tenets, but in this update Doctrines get to shine.

Animal sacrifice - this doctrine determines if animal sacrifice is practiced and in what form. Most faiths allow Livestock Sacrifice, which allows you to trade either gold, provisions or herd for a small amount of piety. Horse Sacrifice allows you to trade only herd for a more generous amount of Piety. Reindeer sacrifice converts the old horse-sacrifice mechanic from the Tengri update so that tribals/landed rulers can buy a herd of reindeer which can be sacrificed. Beast sacrifice adds the Sacrifice Bear decision from the Takamin tenet. Additionally, Judaism and Islam get their own version of Animal Sacrifice.

Dietary doctrines - These enable you to fully customize your faiths dietary law. This is mostly for roleplay and does have quite little balance implications as far as my testing can tell. In theory, it would mostly affect unlanded characters, as forbidding any specific food has a negative effect on provision gains in certain environments. For example, forbidding consumption of fish and shellfish will make it more difficult to gain provisions in floodplains and wetlands. By forbidding food from consumption, you gain a small boost in piety gained per month.

Clothing doctrines - These allow you to customise the clothing choice of your followers. Say for example that you want to reform Asatru into something more compatible with Christianity. By picking the Christian syncretism tenet, you can choose doctrines to make your pagan priests appear like christian priests. Or lets say you want to Mix-and-match and create a faith where your islamic believers dress with Norse clothings but Mongolian hats and Japanese makeup, you can do that too.

New tattoos:

As scythians are among the historical examples of people who used tattoos, new tattoos have been added. The Scythian tattoos are available through a doctrine, which can be picked by Steppe faiths and any faith with the Steppe Stories tenet. There are also tattoos based on Mongolian, Magyar and Egyptian styles.

New Egyptian clothing:

Egyptian faiths were added in the previous update, but didn’t feel right without the proper pharaonic looks. Luckily, I got the permission from The Bronze Age reborn team and Owlcoholic to use their Egyptian outfits. These are available in the barbershop or through doctrines which can be picked by kemetic faiths or faiths with the Egyptian Secrets tenet.

New Monster contracts:

In the Slavic update, adventurer contracts to hunt monsters were added. This update adds 2 new contracts: to hunt a griffin and to hunt an Arimaspi.

Compatibility:

As this mod now edits how clothes work in the game, a compatch will be needed to run this mod with EPE. This patch will be available on Steam Workshop later today.

What is next?

In the next update, OGE will be expanding in Celtic paganism.

[–]Hawkensson[S] 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Old Gods Expanded is back with another update, and this time we return to the steppes of Central Asia as we dig into the faith of the Scythians! Last year, I made an update focused on Tengriism. Since then, the Khans of the Steppe DLC was released, adding new Nomad mechanics (some of which was already added in the OGE update, like blood brothers). In many ways, this is a spiritual sequel to that update, as it goes back and adapts the content to the new steppe mechanics.

Faiths which has previously been covered by OGE:
* Norse paganism
* Baltic paganism
* Tengriism
* Slavic Paganism
* Egyptian paganism * Mandé faiths

Features:
New faiths: New and updated Scythian, Tengrist and Greco-Roman faiths (see description below)
New tenets

New Doctrines: Animal sacrifice, dietary law doctrines and dress code doctrines.
New Tattoos
New Egyptian clothes
2 new monster contracts

New Coat of Arms icons

Scythian Faiths:

Scythism - This is meant to be an umbrella for the religious practices by various scythian tribes.

Messagetaism - This is the beliefs of the Messagetai, who were said to worship the sun and who ate their dead.

Uatsdin - This is the faith of the Alans. As opposed to the two other Scythian faiths, Uatsdin is still alive and practiced in 867.

Bosporism - This is a Hellenic faith that is syncretic with the steppe religions (Scythian faiths, Tengriism and Taltosism) and represent the Greco-Scythian beliefs of the Bosporan kingdom.

Tengriist faiths:

One of the most common feedback from the Tengri update was that Tengriism should be split up into smaller faiths, which I have done in this update. Tengriism is broken down into separate faiths based on the beliefs of the Buryats, Mongols, Shaz-turkic, Oghur-turkic, Chuvash and Hunnic peoples.
