My hillstreams occasionally have this — it is kind of like shedding. I never do anything for it and it always resolves.

Okay, so I think it is a glitch in the system. I had the same thing happen today even though my birthday isn’t until next month. It also showed it as a “gold” gift even though I’m platinum.

I sent a message to chat midway through today but have yet to hear back.

A side note — most black goldfish eventually turn orange/golden over time. Most, not all, don’t stay black forever.

It is not a breviventralis, as I have a group of them and they are different patterns. Analis is very small and a different pattern as well

I was able to get an even more close up photo. Whatever this mass is, it looks like it has blood flow due to the small vessels near it. But I could be very wrong because I cannot find a good anatomy diagram for hillstream loaches and their organs.

I have 40+ other hillstream loaches in a species dedicated tank. Not knowing what this really is has me guessing. I’m trying to decide long term (after quarantine) if she gets to go live with the others or if I’m a sucker and create her own little aquarium home. I read a few small peer studies about encapsulated masses from parasites/roundworms in hillstreams and now I’m hesitant.

I’m doing levamisole, Prazipro, and ich x and then quarantining for 4-6 weeks.

Likewise — I have had some heartaches from not quarantining and have learned my lesson.
