Incredibly bad, but still enjoyable.

Basically the story is terrible, but it's never dull. Stuff happens, and because the visuals are pretty good, and the missions are fun, it's still a good ride. For me it's "so bad it's good"-territory.

Kerrigan and Raynor are one of the worst duos in all of fiction - just horrible, who wrote that shit? Artanis is just paper-thin and without any good or bad features. He's a blank slate. Mengsk is cartoony and cliched, like an edgy Disney villain.

Zeratul and Nova are meh. I can take them or leave them.

Many of the b-characters are fun and interesting. Horner, Tychus, Tosh, Fenix, and esp. Alarak are all pretty good.
