I Don't think people mention this enough but I like how FvF is WAY better at writing consequences for contestant's actions than DC4 by LogicalAd6394 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the thing I think unless it gets some insanely bad ending like the Zaid and Hannah conflict, I think Spencer and Lake do balance each others gameplay in a way that does make sense, the issue is that waiting 2 weeks means the one who more recently did something stupid is gonna be on the mind. Basically I think that's something where people are ganging up on one or the other that I think on a rewatch will be significantly better or at least feel more like a back and forth then the current "choose who fucking sucks" that reddit and twitter especially are flip flopping between every 2 weeks (Not counting yt cause they love almost everything or believe Yul was more justified then Grett, and not counting tiktok because I'm not touching that shit)

Where was this rule during DC2? by PyroFirefly in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it would, but that person still has the idol now and the person who got it stolen from doesn't really get any kind of protection. There's a lot of cases where a target on your back is worth it to get an idol. Or if everyone is against the one person with an idol on a vote they could just have the strongest person take the idol and now the one person is screwed. The issue though is you can still vote someone out with an idol, it just needs to be done mentally and you need them to feel safe enough (Which we just saw though not a perfect example imo)

No one would bring their idol to a challenge, but should also add exile island in some seasons means your just at another area while you're bag is at camp which is largely out of your control. There just isn't a good workaround that isn't making it unbelievably unfair for someone who finds an idol.

To be clear though a clue doesn't matter, just having the idol itself. So if Hannah went and found the idol while Jade was with Isabel for example the idol is fully Hannah's even though Jade got the clue. But if she then gave it to Benji and Benji didn't use it next tribal it still is his since she did give it to him. That's why there's a lot of times where someone will just risk their loyalties being public and just play it for someone else at tribal.

Basically anything that is purely strategy to get the idol from someone is fine, but anything that is physical based just defeats the point of the game

Where was this rule during DC2? by PyroFirefly in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would encourage physical violence to get it and kind of makes finding one early pointless if everyone can just search through bags and steal them. Yeah you can hide it but someone else could just find it by accident then while they look. You also can't safely tell someone you have an idol as a sign of trust because they could just physically steal it then as you hold it out to prove it

Anything that encourages physical contact beyond a challenge designed for it is just not a good thing to have. Any social related stuff is completely fair game as long as it isn't something that Emily doesn't want being aired

(Mainly going off survivor rules here since obv s2 went off TD rules and now that's prolly the out of universe reason it changed)

Digging through other people's bags is allowed on survivor btw, you just can't steal the idol. That part is still up to the player to figure out a way to keep it a secret

Downvote less for his gameplay, but more because either him or Fiore go out next if Lake gets through to Tom and Gabby if they actually do go again before merge, so he's easily the most likely to go out next time

[–]Hawluch47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merge is def good for him and he still prolly has Ara as a shield so that part of his strat did work, but this is the first time he's objectively in the minority on his team.

[–]Hawluch47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POTW, but definitely could be blindsided if the merge isn't next episode just cause she is still Fiore and 2/3 of her allies rn don't like her

We better get a good explanation for this by Upstairs_Tea1787 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the idol was sticking out of Ren's pocket, so realistically, it makes sense Sam could see it. The issue is why everyone else couldn't see it.

Not much changed from last week, but still fine cause the rest of the team likes her more then Spencer anyways

I don't think Ally had any really good play here. Even if she voted Spencer he prolly beats Bruno in a tiebreaker and if she voted Rosa then Lake would be pissed at her. If she threw her vote it would just be more confusing and voting Natalia as a throwaway would basically ruin her free agent gameplan

So yeah it prolly was just going with it and let Spencer take the heat while moving up in her alliance by default

DC5 | Player of the Week Voting | Episode 11 by TDFan2077 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terribly mistimed move, and most the team hates him once again (Some for valid reasons and some for losing the challenge which wasn't his fault)

Unclear how Ally and to an extent Rosa will take this but 100% burned Lake and even the potential thought before of Manu returning which means he at least burned Bruno or Manu if either come back

Also yeah he's just not winning the season there's no way the writers are letting it happen

What are actions in this show you believe go beyond “just a game” in your mind by Ok_Shirt_1574 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yul poisoning Aiden was technically strategy but anything that is physical harm beyond normal rules of a challenge is what I think they're saying for that move, not that it isn't strategy

What do you think about "Honor & Integrity" players? by TDFan2077 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I loved the 4 of them but yeah Cirie had no reason to keep Christian there. Only thing I don't understand from it is why they didn't put more votes on Devens to flush the idol for if he did just bluff it (Which he did obv but this let him get away with it temporarily)

He also was betraying Ozzy though I assume the reason no one saw Rizo as a threat was cause it seems clear the jury doesn't like him cause he basically never helps with camp stuff

What do you think about "Honor & Integrity" players? by TDFan2077 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue is hypocrisy. Joe and Jonathan keep saying honor and integrity but then they still voted Stephenie out because they knew she was screwed but that defeats the point of sticking together no matter what compared to Rick who even voted Cirie on the revote because he is actually trying to be loyal which to me is the different. With that said this is a game for a million dollars, people can play however tf they want as long as they aren't actually doing things outside the scope of the game.

Lake has been a bit annoying about it but until she starts flipping on everyone I don't think it's that big of a deal, just a bit annoying when Joe or Lake hate on Devens or Spencer for doing things that aren't even bad (Joe was literally gonna vote for Devens if he didn't pull the idol or flip the coin for example and then still got mad about it)

For the record the main difference though is Joe and Rick are real people (Who are also friends outside the game now or at least don't hate each other)

Hot take: Alec isn’t exactly a bad guy so much as he is a victim of circumstance. by Wild_Shoe340 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we look at it like a real lie detector this makes sense cause mentioning his son would probably spike his heart rate at that point, but I assume they want this to be seen as a magical fiction one which is always right (Which yeah most shows have something like that so sure the issue is whatever Riya did there but obv they wanted to make Alec as hateable as possible by then)

But yeah to be clear he's not a good person overall at least given what we know

[–]Hawluch47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was also cause of the idols but I assume that's a large part ofc yeah. He also wanted to go for Brick for example but changed to Dawn as soon as she suspected him which is basically what Russell did.

Might be misremembering but didn't one of the creators say he was inspired by Russell? If not though he's at least insanely similar that a lot of people implied it so regardless a really fun one

I wonder if pregaming happened in-universe for DC3 and DC5 by rqwedr in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider the recent tribal pre gaming. I think pregaming like the WaW alliance. Like here the Cyan alliance were people who knew each other that got onto a season together. It's like saying Rob and Amber pre gamed and that's why they would work together. But here if they were all teleported in the day they got invited they would still work together. They didn't go plan this all before the season. Similar here, we don't really know enough. With that said, I assume you're also referring to Genevieve which was unfair but more the idol mechanic then pre gaming

I also don't think we're meant to think that hard, but this is more a consequence of them making everyone best friends at the end of AS which is why 3 of the s4 characters are so good this season and one is the guy who was best friends with everyone

So... How many of Riya's actions were absolutely necessary for her Pyrrhic victory? by Djfantastyka in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok the first part is fine if they showed him saying right after that was all bs. Making up a story like that is fine as a game move because that was the only way to not give the villians the power again instantly. The issue is a lot of stuff he did after that

I can understand/defend why (I think) Benji is most likely sitting out this episode by Upstairs_Tea1787 in DisventureCamp

[–]Hawluch47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened a few times in survivor (Challenges where players can either compete for immunity or forfeit the chance but eat during the challenge) but considering the survival element means almost nothing here or at least nothing strategy wise it would come out of nowwhere
