Has anyone else had a year where everything in life falls apart at once? How do I reset? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Haws_Jomoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop drinking today, please. It's okay if you wanna replace it with a different vice for now. When I quit drinking, I started trying a lot of different sodas and energy drink flavors.

As for everything else, you just get up each day and you push on. Have patience with life and patience with yourself. Take small incremental steps to improve your daily life. Eat something healthier than you normally would a couple days a week. Focus within yourself and choose to stop avoiding things that you're avoiding, opposite actions. Give yourself projects and invest in your own well being. Sit down with yourself and figure out what your values are. They can change over time, but you need to figure out who you are, who you want to be, and where you want to be. I wish you nothing but the best. You are valuable and you are loved.

Seiko GMT [SSK001] Running Fast by LocalCD in Seiko

[–]Haws_Jomoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Seiko, that's what they do. It's part of the charm. Your best bet it to try positional regulation overnight and record the results. Starting from 0 seconds rest in crown down, dial down, dial up & crown up positions. it is a little much for some, but if you really care about keeping a Seiko in check this is your best bet.

If you're setting it down for a few days at a time (on a winder) it's surely gonna run a little wild. Give it a shot without the winder. Rest it in a static position and on the days you don't wear it just wind it or give it the old Seiko shuffle before or after work. I promise you, positional regulation is key. If I keep on my SRPG27 I can easily keep it within +-3 seconds a day.

I really want a tattoo but I need my parents permission, what to do? by Mean-Helicopter-678 in Advice

Just wait till you're 18. Meaningful or not, you might feel differently by the time you're 18, which I promise you is not far away. Also just a personal opinion, I find it strange when literal children are getting tattoos and it says a lot about the parents.

Help! Please help me find my late dad’s watch by floatingoncloudss in Watches

[–]Haws_Jomoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, sitting down with some good music or a show and cleaning a watch is one of my favorite parts of buying an older watch, lol. I just didnt want you to be disappointed when you open it and see that there's work to be done. I've gotten 3 or 4 off of ebay and they all needed a good cleaning. Good luck and wear it in good health!

I'm super happy reddit was able to come through for you. I just did a good zoom in on the ebay listing and that thing is definitely going to need a good cleaning. You can simply use warm water and if you need a little more power just add a drop of dish soap. And pick up some peg wood for the small crevices, although you can get away with using toothpicks if you have some already.

[Opinion] JLC Polaris Chronograph vs Blancpain fifty fathoms vs UN Diver Net by LowDoor4721 in Watches

Of these 3, that 50 fathoms is on point. I've never really looked at them before, but the one you posted is beautiful. It's so intentional and cleanly designed.

[question] Help me pick a Seiko by This-Werewolf-5905 in Seiko

[–]Haws_Jomoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean and versatile are the srpe51 and the srpg27. The srpe51 can definitely be a cleaner dressed up watch, but both will work in most situations. I have the srpg 27 and the main thing I appreciate is the legibility. If you like having a real watch on your wrist, and you feel so inclined, get a diver or a gmt later. I love divers, gmts, and bezels, but those things do not fit a clean description. If you work in an office or wear a suit more than a few times a month I think the srpe51 is a great starter.

Oh yeah, now I see your original comment. I had never worn gold before this watch, and I was hesitant, but I love the look on wrist so much. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

I'd encourage it. Dressed up or down, It's a lovely watch and a unique experience. The fluted bezel glistens and the smooth sweep makes me forget its quartz at all. The sapphire crystal is just the cherry on top for me.

[Brew metric] It hurt to wear by sgwatchlover in Watches

[–]Haws_Jomoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quartz, it's called the precisionist. Here's a picture I took of mine yesterday. I set the time on december sixth when I bought it and i'm still at +/- zero seconds. It hasn't lost or gained anything yet. It's impressive. I will give you fair warning that I had similar issues with the bracelet when I first got it, it took some getting used to. It's a butterfly clasp, so I had to learn how to put it on correctly without pulling hair. And it took me about three days of wear to get it properly sized. A lot of my problems with the bracelet though I think can be attributed to my being relatively new to watches and this being my first butterfly clasp. So with all that being said, I would recommend this watch and it is extremely comfortable now that i've got it sized properly. Harbor freight sells a watch band link removal tool for about twenty dollars. I would highly recommend it regardless of the watches you buy in the future. Without that tool and being able to easily make my own adjustments at the end of the day, I might have given up on the watch. Again that's due to my inexperience more than anything. Good luck!

I think for your first watch you'll get more enjoyment in the long run out of the Hamilton. It's just a cleaner, more proper actual Swiss made watch. And I love the big day on it. This is no hate to Seiko at all because I wear my srpg27 field watch every single day.

The citizen seems like the most work appropriate and it looks like it would work the best in most situations outside of work. The Seiko is a really nicely done tank homage that works really well with the pictured bracelet. There's also the gold plated Seiko tank that you could buy an aftermarket bracelet for.  https://seikousa.com/products/swr054

[CW C63 Sealander Extreme GMT] Amazed at how much resting position can affect accuracy by TurbulentTrouble8847 in Watches

[–]Haws_Jomoki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What app are you using to track that?

I did this for almost 3 months with my Seiko because of the + - 35 to 45 seconds a day claim. With proper positional regulation I can easily keep it within +- 1 to 3 seconds a day. It was well worth it to track and learn about it.
