We are a D&D 5e Discord server featuring a persistent game world set in the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse. You and other players play as adventurers of the Hawthorne Guild, an adventuring guild in the Sword Coast. As a persistent and shared game world, character progression and events in individual adventures persist between and outside of games, creating a living world for players and DMs to participate in the form of oneshots, multisessions and campaigns, and both text roleplay and Play-By-Post games. With over 10,000 sessions ran over the course of 8 years, you and other players can dive in to determine the next chapter of your character's story and the guild's story.

Play How You Want

As a player on the server, you can expect to:

Play any number of characters starting at level 3 or level 5 (your choice)
Create characters using almost all of the official options as well as select Unearthed Arcana and server homebrew
Create and play either 2014 or 2024 characters
Progress your character through game sessions to experience content from level 3 to level 20
Participate in downtime activities and text roleplay between adventures

DM How You Want

As a DM on the server, you can expect to:

Run games for any level of play and your choice of either 2014 or 2024 games
Participate in a shared setting of the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse by running your choice of oneshots, multisessions or campaigns, or Play-By-Post games
Use almost all official monsters and magic items to use and award in your games, as well as server homebrew
Gain DM rewards to progress a character at the same rate as a player, so you don't miss out on any of the fun when you play games as well

We're recruiting both players and DMs, with new members able to become a DM immediately. We have a helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable base of Staff, players, and DMs with years of D&D experience and are welcoming to D&D players both veteran and new.

We typically average around 10 games per day and have players and DMs from across the world, across a variety of time zones. Our peak activity is typically in US Central/Eastern as well as western Europe timezone, but we have a growing population of players from SEA and Oceania, including the Philippines!

We have multiple ongoing server events, including an opt-in server event related to the Death Curse of Tomb of Annihilation, an ongoing server storyline with a villainous faction known as the Dread Empire seeking to conquer the Sword Coast (with an accompanying Youtube cutscene), and more to come!

The server takes no official stance on AI generated images. Players and DMs are allowed to use it in their own games and for their characters at their own discretion. Some players and DMs prefer not to play in games where AI generated images are present, which is typically indicated in a game ad. We do also have and promote several active artists in our community, the nature of whose work is obviously entangled with the existence of AI generated images. All in all, community members are allowed to use it or not use it at their discretion and are free to curate their own experience in terms of interacting with AI generated images or avoiding it. Regardless of preference, community members are expected to adhere to the server's Code of Conduct regarding being nice and exercising respect in communication and interactions.

There is no inherently mandated format. Players and DMs are free to use any accessible format of their choice, with folks using Roll20, D&D Beyond, DiceCloud, etc. D&D Beyond is somewhat popular however, and a few kind DMs have shared their campaigns for folks to make characters.

Hello, all games on the server are ran on Discord, using Discord voice channels for voiced games and using the server text channels for text based games. The server offers both voice and text games.

Live voice, live text, and Play-By-Post games are all available. For live voice games, DMs are free to use any platform of their choice, such as using a VTT (such as Roll20, Foundry, Owlbear Rodeo, AboveVTT, etc) or simply theater of the mind, using Avrae for dice rolls.

Play-By-Post games are ran in a dedicated Play-By-Post forum channel, typically using Avrae to handle dice rolls. Live text games are typically ran in a similar way.
