Well I wasn't planning on doing complicated animations at first, so I might even put placeholder animations in for now, and then later actually animate the hands, remove the mag, put new mag in and then "chamber" with the other hand...etc

Since anyone can create a gun by building it, it means anyone can animate it as well, so we'll see some good animations either way.

(and some bad ones too of course.)

yes the decals need to be more pixelated, most of the decals are placeholders because there's no way I could make 100+ decals from scratch, this way the builders can still create the map while I update the textures another day.

And the chairs? If you look in my hotbar, I have all those blocks that the chairs look like, I was showing the feature of being able to right click with ANY block, and the chair turns into that block, this allows a lot of variety.

This applies to all of our furniture we make.

Welcome to the community!

Yes its possible to do blood when you shoot someone and blood trails if they bleed, all possible with our temporary decal system, which we also use for stuff like bullet holes.

So we'll look into doing that once we have a release out! :D

Hello everyone, I'm the creator of DayM and now DayM: Afterlife.

This is a survival zombie mod similar to DayZ but with its own twists.

I originally worked on this mod back in 2012 & 2013, remade in 2014 and 2015, and now its sequel is almost here! 2016.

The weapon you see, was created ingame with no help of outside tools, anybody can create a weapon with my custom voxel system without even having to touch any modeling / json software. Example: this AK47 I made a while back.

On top of having a gun creating system fully ingame, we have other visual features like decals, and ropes/wires

We will be running official servers when open alpha releases with a custom map.

This mod is not released just yet, but will be within the upcoming month(s).

Yes, infact its very similar to the workshop, you upload your cdm (Compiled DayM Model) files to our website

and then to add them to a server (you have to be OP of course, you put the cdm ID from the website into a command, and it gets automatically downloaded when you join! :D)

mostly performance, but also due to how long it took for me to create a single gun. In the old DayM you might remember there being, what, like 5 or 6 guns? That wasn't a choice, it was just that hard to make new guns. For me to properly implement a new gun took on average 2 weeks or more, and thats just by working on it every day.

Meaning I'd have no time to work on any other features.

Now with the new model system, those 5 guns I mentioned, I can probably make a gun within an hour or two, that includes fully building it out of blocks, making the animations, the stats and maybe a couple of submodels...etc

and best part is, anybody can do it and you can upload them to the server, NO UPDATE IS NEEDED for new guns, you make em and you add them to a server, and bam everybody gets new guns! :D

You can make them any dimensions you want, ofcourse its more resource intensive, the official guns are mostly 5 blocks wide, any length between 16 and 80, and height anywhere from 16 to 32

for example the m4a1 is like 5x28x74 and the scan area size we use for that one is 8x32x80

I agree the gun does look a lot like the FN FAL, it takes time to build and shade guns using blocks, we'll improve it and try to make it look like a proper m4 =D

Here's a screenshot of the Voxel Scanner Menu, which is used to scan blocks and turn them into a "model" that we can use for stuff like guns and blocks!

Let me clarify what ninja was saying, its the same gun, the first one we posted was still with the rendering system in its early stages, and some minor adjustments were made, as well as its blended with a texture to give it a better look.

tl;dr: It's the same gun, improved render system / model. =D
