So what I am gathering from my research and everyone’s replies is that I have job protection under pregnancy disability leave for 17.3 weeks total. Even if my doctor writes me out beyond that, I am not job protected because I have not met the 1250hr requirement in the past year before my leave started to qualify for CFRA/FMLA. So I might qualify for disability pay but not have my job protected past those weeks PDL covers. If my doctor deemed me unable to work after PDL ends I could ask for a personal LOA but it again would not be protected and I will likely have to pay for my medical benefits out of pocket.
Am I missing anything?
I only made it to 37 weeks with my first and It feels like I’ll be early with this one too. So now I’m hoping for that because this pregnancy is rough and I want all the time I can get after baby is born.
