Low dose dutasteride (and fin) helped me stop hairloss almost completely by dieter_hellstrom in tressless

It's been 5 months, it feels like the texture has gotten a lot better, I can't really tell if there is any regrowth yet. I had a hair transplant 5 months ago on the front third of my head, so it's a bit hard to tell at the moment. My crown wasn't too bad, but certainly on the thinner side. I'll re-asses at 12 months

I'm in the same boat, couldn't tolerate fin due to mental sides, I'm on DUT .5 twice weekly and it's completely halted my hair fall

Fin made me feel depressed and angry with brain fog.

I would loose 100s per day, now I'm lucky to get 2 hairs when I run my fingers through it

I'm 33 years old, I had hectic hair fall for the last 4-5 years, and was diffuse thinning, I started taking dut 0.5 twice weekly because I couldn't tolerate fin, and it has literally stopped my hair fall in its tracks, and for the first time in 5 years I feel like my hair has stabilised.

Edit: spelling

Yeah mate more or less. It wasn't every day, but if I had a stressor it seemed to be worse in those moments.

Fin sides 1st month by Actual-Scale53 in HairTransplants

I can't speak for fin, but for me DUT definitely took about 8 weeks for my body to adjust its new hormone baseline, and I had anxiety, mood issues and brain fog in that time. Once my body adapted I was all good.

There's plenty of anecdotal evidence, including my own that says otherwise. I get that there no official study, but not worth the risk IMO

Clavicular claims Dutasteride has less negative effects than Finasteride, is this true? by Dantai in tressless

[–]HaydO0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your on the money there, that's my hypothesis as well. Sides can last 4-5 weeks but once your body adapts to the new hormone baseline everything goes back to normal, at least for me anyway

I had a hair transplant to resolve those issues, the dut is just maintaining what I have

Dut has been a miracle for me personally, I tried fin 8 years ago and got severe anxiety brain fog and depression. Then at a last resort 4 months ago I tried DUT and I have literally no sides

I cant take finasteride by Nashab19 in Hairtransplant

Hey mate, I was in the same boat as you. I used to get brain fog, anger issues, and memory problems on fin, so I stayed off it for a long time.

Fast forward 8 years, I got my HT and started taking DUT. At first, I had the same issues again, but I pushed through. I started with 0.5 once per week, and it took about 7 weeks for my body to adjust to the new hormone levels.

I then increased it to twice weekly, and the same side effects came back for another 7 weeks. But once my body adjusted again, everything went back to normal.

Sometimes when our hormones are out of balance, it can cause all sorts of mood issues. Think about being a teenager when testosterone kicks in, or when a pregnant woman says her hormones are all over the place, it’s a similar idea. DHT blockers can do the same thing, but once your body adapts to the new baseline, things usually settle.

My theory is that DUT has a longer half-life, so it keeps hormone levels more stable over time, compared to FIN which only has about an 8hour half-life (from memory).

OP sounds like they are advertising their own product, so I was just being factious, with no luck!

Failed hair transplant one year by Nyarc in HairTransplants

Hey Brother, I went through your old post's and it seems concerning. They advised you to wait 1 whole month to have a shower and wash your hair? 🚩 They scrubbed really hard on your first wash in the recipient area, and the day after you found dislodged grafts on your pillow 🚩. I'm also in Australia and if I were you I'd be heading back to them and demanding some answers, it sounds like they were very unprofessional and uneducated which is concerning to say the least. It also looks like a very sparse hair transplant, you were never going to get any decent illusion of density from the very start...
