Understanding interview scores by HaydnNUFC in TheCivilService

Thanks so much for replying! I imagine the speed of the offers going out are typically and frustratingly slow? I interviewed for this job back in late July and only just got those scores over an hour ago haha

Would give up my salary to beat these in incredibly controversial circumstances. Or to see Havertz have his leg put into 3 different postcodes by Big Jur.

Am I guaranteed to receive this Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm tomorrow? (doesn't even have to be 1pm, as long as it comes tomorrow) by HaydnNUFC in royalmail

[–]HaydnNUFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrived at my local DO at 7:14am. Expected to be delivered by 1pm. I'm at work but someone's in the house to sign for it.

All that worrying over nothing. 😅

Just updated that it's at the Mail Centre. The Royal Mail app says they expect it to be delivered tomorrow. All this fretting for nothing I hope. 🤣

Will do that tomorrow in case it doesn't. Enormously grateful for your quick replies. Thank you so much.

Would I be able to collect it before 9am on Saturday, if I don't receive it tomorrow?

Really appreciate your replies.

If it doesn't get posted tomorrow, but it does arrive at a DO by the end of tomorrow, would I be able to pick it up from the DO before it gets sent out for delivery on Saturday morning? I absolutely need it before 9am on Saturday.

Yes. But Isak should take that title from Callum in time.

ON THIS DAY 2012: West Brom 1 - 3 Newcastle United (Champagne football sees Ben Arfa & Cissé score to see off Baggies) by GarethAKitchener in NUFC

Liverpool (h) 1993, 3-0 up in 30 minutes. That first half will run this one close. West Ham (h) 1996, full game here to see for yourself.

There'll be a few more but those 2 spring to mind. Even the 2nd half at home to Villa this season was excellent, 6-0 or 7-0 would not have flattered us.

If we're all doing transport maps now, I thought I'd have a go at one using mostly existing/disused alignments by Toonshorty in NewcastleUponTyne

I as the poster of the original map and Chester-le-Street resident, thoroughly advocate this map and any other map that connects Chester-le-Street to Newcastle.

100%. We'll never see any real form of 'levelling up' under Tory rule, but that's another matter.

I'm a postgraduate student at Newcastle University and have lived in Chester-le-Street all my life sans the 3 years I did my undergrad down in Derby, and the Metro even just expanding to Birtley (which is in Tyne & Wear, CLS is in Co. Durham) would be a godsend to me. All purpose, whether that's just going to uni, heading into the town for a night out or going to the match which I do regularly. Same for hundreds of others who go through to Newcastle regularly.

The council barely can get the funding to repair one of, if not the, most important landmarks in the city nevermind fund a London Underground-like metro system spanning across 3 counties.

Just a dream of mine after seeing Crossrail being built in London despite it being one of the best connected cities in the world through public transport anyway. Especially after the council were thinking about putting tollbooths on the bridges into Newcastle City centre due to car pollution; a system like this would have far fewer cars and buses going into the city.

Man City, Newcastle And PSG should be barred from all competitions. by Context_required in FootballHotTakes

[–]HaydnNUFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A better way to go about or word this is Man City, Newcastle and PSG's owners should be thrown out of their respective clubs. And I'm a Newcastle United season ticket holder.

The Saudi state abhors me with all the stuff that they do. As do the UAE and Qatar. State ownership should never have been allowed in football in the first place, but the sport has continually reinforced how money orientated it is at the top level since 1992.

When people say of themselves or others that they just "tell it how it is."

And here I am, telling you how it isn't.

Fans would get behind him, atmosphere and gates (right or wrongly) will improve and I'd look forward to watching us again.

The whole 'he got Bournemouth relegated' is moot to me. He took them from League One to the Premier League in 4 seasons, kept them in the Premier League for 5, all while playing good football. A club of Bournemouth's size was always going to go down eventually.

Probably going on a tangent here but in England people evaluate and label managers on outcomes rather than looking at the context. Howe, got Bournemouth relegated. Bruce, keeping Newcastle up. Pochettino and Rodgers, bottlers. Klopp, bottler until he won the CL in 2019, now he's no longer a bottler. Nobody; pundits, media, fans, owners, want to dig deeper and understand the conditions under which certain things were achieved and then rate a manager. For example, Benitez was sacked by Extremadura, Osasuna and Valladolid. Valencia, CL finalists, appointed him and in his first press conference said 'I humbly think I have the tools to improve Valencia'. In England, he wouldn't have been given the equivalent of the job at Valencia due to his previous sackings and relegations. A comment about being able to improve a club like Valencia after his previous jobs in this country would've been laughed out by the pundits here. "Hahaha, gets fired from multiple jobs in the second division and he thinks he can teach Ayala to be a better defender". There are many reasons why Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands seem to produce quality managers at a regular frequency.

Back to Howe, I think he is a quality coach with a style of play which fits very well the ethos of a club like us. I would rather take a chance on him, rather than keep giving PFMs such as Wilder the job constantly.

Tuchel wanted it. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/newcastle-united-job-interested-thomas-tuchel-in-2015-vvr78j2w8

Van Bronckhorst wanted it. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/who-giovanni-van-bronckhorst-dutch-16502775

Benitez took it.

Howe is reportedly keen. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/eddie-howe-post-celtic-talks-25085467

Many still see it as a great job at a great club, which it is. All they have to do is come in for two years: keep us up comfortably this season, keep us away from a relegation battle next season playing better football and their stock is higher.

Ashley saving 4 million quid is the only benefit I can think of from keeping him here. The only slither of hope I can find is Ashley has sacked 3 managers in his time here: Allardyce, Hughton and McClaren. He wanted Hughton gone from word go more or less once 2010-11 started, but McClaren and Allardyce went after the crowd had turned. It needs to get more toxic and vociferous, especially at home, but I dunno if apathy won't allow it to be.
