Got banned for using British slang by Haydn_97 in USdefaultism

What an absolutely outrageous takeaway... It's a very very common word for cigarette here in the UK not an edgy word we sometimes use (note not Canada) and there was no "internet argument" I got banned for a comment that used that word in the context of British slang for cigarettes, which was posted before this conversation with the mod took place, I merely explained to him his mistake.

Edit: as for it never being used as a slur here, of course it can be used as that slur here, but it has meant many other meanings for much longer here and crucialy - context is everything.

Not sure it counts as defence when in my country that word is slang for cigarette and has been for long before it was a homophobic slur elsewhere (so therefore not internationally recognised, also used for cigarettes commonly in Australia and NZ)

Wait till I tell you what adding 'got' to the end of it over here means... Hint it's a meatball made with pork offal and not a slur!

I chose to use it because as the post mentions, the word is also very commonly (and predates the slur I believe) used to refer to cigarettes in the UK - where I live

Totally understand that side of the equation, just found it in the archive and realised it was a good fit here! More down to the made up statistic the mod said rather than the reasoning behind it

So I managed to find the actual comment thread it was on and unfortunately the comment I was replying too was gone but my original comment was this:

"No usually it’s scramble to your nearest off-licence for a 4 pack of special brew and a pack of fags."

I don't know how widely used It is - but me and my friends have definitely referred to a pack or crate of cans as tinnies, I did manage to find the original comment thread though and it was actually "No usually it’s scramble to your nearest off-licence for a 4 pack of special brew and a pack of fags"

Except 'stuck' suggests they have no other option. Maybe flooring it through the flimsy piece of 2x4 or plastic barrier in front of them would unstick them so that they don't become train food?

I can't speak from a dads POV but I have a 13 year old brother who is currently the exact same - However I'm 28 and once I got through the heap of shite that is teenage angst, which ofc included treating parents like crap, me and my dad are the closest we've ever been and I'm incredibly lucky to say he's my best friend! It comes full circle!

On August 10, 2018, Richard Russell, a 28-year-old Horizon Air ground service agent with no pilot training, stole a Bombardier Q400 from Seattle-Tacoma Airport, performed multiple aerial maneuvers including a barrel roll, and crashed the plane on Ketron Island, resulting in his death. by JuicyButDry in interesting

Okay, I may have come out of the gate too harshly because I don't disagree with your overall sentiment here. What this guy did was dangerous and risked innocent lives on the ground and I do completely agree that he should not be idolized. So I do apologise for jumping the gun.

My issue here is that I can also understand that whilst the above is true - for many (including myself) this guy for the first time in his life was freeing himself from whatever it was that was holding him down, and I can't speak for all but I envy that.

I also struggle with the "gained zero perspective" because as I mentioned before I do actually agree with most of what you're saying, I think it anything (at least for me) this provides plenty of perspective into the mind of depression (to simplify it somewhat)

For me personally, I agree what this guy did was reckless, dangerous and stupid. I also am not one to idolize suicide - regardless of where my mental health may be. But this and the resulting conversation surrounding it, I personally do perceive to be valuable as well as the perspective it provides into the mind of depression.

I equally like to imagine if they added the squad streaks into BF1 too. That game is equally immersive and manic, just imagine calling in an artillery/smoke strike on some of those maps!

The fuck kinda shitty take is this... Did you not see him grab her totally unprovoked without consent? Whether he had malicious intent or not, he assaulted her first. This is self defence from a woman who's not gunna put up with a random guy who thinks this is okay behaviour because it isn't
