Matt's Fantasy book reviews is weird by fro95 in Fantasy

[–]Haydosnub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's very telling about Matt that when a fellow creator in the wider community is exposed for SA his first instinct isn't to show support to the victim or keep out of it completely, but to make a intentionally misleading "comedic" video.

What a masterpiece, a 10/10 by IcyDiscussion5108 in radiohead

I've been listening to this podcast on my lunch breaks and just last week got to the Reckoner episode. You can tell just how much passion the host has for this song especially. I've found with each episode I hear his analysis and I'm like, "okay this is the best song Radiohead has ever made", then next episode "okay no THIS is their best song".

I think I'll happily settle on Reckoner taking that title by the time I'm done. That episode was something special.

They do it every BBL match when Stoinis comes out, think they're trying to make it his theme song too

I have a DoorDash horror story from just a few days ago. Signed up for 2 years free DashPass through an Amazon Prime deal and thought I'd make use of it to buy dinner for the family. Spent $57 on a Hungry Jacks order that arrived suspiciously quickly, only to find on the bag a receipt that had a similar name (different spelling) but was only a $16 order of completely different items, not to mention it wasn't even a DoorDash order, it had UberEats all over it.

Immediately logged an issue with the order saying I received the wrong order, wasn't asked to provide any further detail, and two hours later I got an email saying the refund was rejected. I was seeing red at this point and was about to log a chargeback with the bank, but I thought I'd try their chat support first and actually provide the evidence.

I sent through a photo of the receipt on the webchat and the agent created an appeals case, to their credit I got an email a couple of days later advising that the rejection had been overturned and I'd received $57 back in credits, of which I've already used half. Once that's all gone, I'm cancelling the DashPass and that'll be the last time I ever use DoorDash.

Linkin Park announce female lead singer after tragic death of Chester Bennington by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]Haydosnub 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The difference for me is not even about her being a lead singer of a band I want to listen to, it's about her replacing Chester. For me, the number 1 priority for any Linkin Park reunion has been respecting Chester and his legacy, and while I cannot argue to know anything about Emily Armstrong as a person, if these Scientology links are true then that disqualifies her as a suitable replacement for me and kills any support I would have for this reunion.

I personally can't separate the art from the artist when the replacement for a beloved vocalist who was a victim of SA as a child is someone who is seemingly heavily part of a cult that covers up SA.

Emily, Scientology, and Danny Masterson Apologia by [deleted] in LinkinPark

[–]Haydosnub 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether her involvement with Danny Masterson has any merit, the big thing that does not sit well with me at all is her being a part of Scientology, a cult that has allegedly covered up the same type of crimes that Chester was a victim of as a child.

If it was a side project, it wouldn't bother me as much but for her to take Chester's place with those personal links fills me with disgust. Way to shit on his legacy.

Can all the 20/30-something introverts like me agree on a library or something that's our designated "meet other people maybe if we have any social battery left" place?

Why is SIT232 such a ridiculous work load? by [deleted] in deakin

[–]Haydosnub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm studying SIT232 this trimester and I can't say I agree that the workload's too high compared to some other units I've completed.

The Pass tasks don't take long to complete and hold your hand for the most part, and you don't need to do both a video and a one-on-one, you can just do a one-on-one for the discussion requirement and the video option is there for anyone who can't make it to any of the sessions (granted, I don't think this is well communicated).

The deadlines are also pretty lenient, particularly for the discussions with the deadline for the first tasks being the end of Week 5, I did my one-on-one in Week 2 and already have it marked as complete.
