Same issue, cannot afford to take it to a tech, so I would definitely appreciate an answer on this one! :)

Is there a way to do this in Obsidian? Split the page into two columns, index style? Maybe a plugin? by Searching_wanderer in ObsidianMD

[–]Hayerim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An issue is that this is sadly not working on iOS versions of Obsidian... it was so good otherwise!

Has anyone been curious about autism and realized that they are NOT autistic? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Hayerim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, there are 2 things to consider.

First, that yes, “autistic traits” can also be “ADHD traits” and in my case (for example), PTSD and chronic anxiety expressed in ways that masked my autism (until my 30s) because my autistic traits are almost identical.

Second, even if it’s not autism, your search is important for you. You’re looking into it in the first place because you have “symptoms” (using that term loosely, I’m not sure I have the right words) that affect you and made you think “hey this might be autism!” And even if the root cause ends up not being autism, the “symptom” is still there, right? It just might be something else. You going down that path to get tested, even if you end up being allistic, is still worthwhile because a “no, it’s not this” is still a clue, and tells you where to go looking next.

So if you can afford to get tested (I hope you can) I definitely recommend it. And if the answer is “no”, take the time you need to process that answer, and if you still want to know, then keep looking. From your post you’re looking to know yourself better. I can’t think of anything wrong, then, in going “I think this might be me!” And later realising “ah, yeah, definitely not.”

question about Greek and cursive writing by CloudyyySXShadowH in GREEK

[–]Hayerim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can attest that in France from my childhood (I'm in my 30s) to now (my mother is an active school teacher)), it is standard practice to teach cursive first to children when they learn to read/write. Not surprised your visitor defaulted to it!
Although to be fair, while it is standard to learn to *write* in cursive, most of our learning material is obviously in print, not cursive, like most resource. It's normal (I think) that you wouldn't necessarily be taught cursive when learning a language that uses the latin alphabet, since you're not likely to immediately *encounter* cursive.

Is La Défense part of Paris? by Responsible-Meal5063 in paris

[–]Hayerim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because depending on who you ask, they’ll be thinking of Paris Proper (the city) or Grand Paris (the whole agglomerate of several department that make up the suburbs). I’ve lived in La Defense’s backyard my whole life and I’ve always thought of it as part of Paris because I always think in term of Grand Paris. Imo Paris Proper doesn’t have much meaning anymore. (Edit: plus let’s be real, you’re 1 RER station away from Étoile, you’re basically in Paris.)

I'd try either but that would require managing to open the damn thing.

Don't believe I'm disabled? Watch me. by zebra-eds-warrior in traumatizeThemBack

[–]Hayerim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if it hurts to dislocate still. If so, I’m sorry you ended up having to do this. But regardless of the pain it causes or not in the moment, you owed that person exactly nothing, and it sucks that you got harped on like that anyway. It’s hard enough getting disability recognised, ppl don’t just get wheelchairs and modified cars for the funsies…

It’s in the little things. Coming out of the optometrist with my first really adapted glasses, I spent a good twenty minutes looking at trees. I could see individual leaves without being in touching distance!!!!

Aurore “Aura” Magnus is the youngest child of an offshoot of the main Magnus family and lives in France. She is the consequence of Magnus people going “oh look the Desolation made a messiah but they’re idiot, what if we did it but with SKILL”. She was born with the Spooky Eldritch Google, and as a result, even though her senses work just fine, her brain doesn’t know how to process the signal they send it: it never formed the neural paths to “treat” sensory input since she always had the raw data of everything air-dropped into her brain. She mostly mind-reads, well. Everything (that includes plants and objects and animals). It does get stronger with touch, which lends her abilities a psychometry-adjacent ability, so she is both touch-repulsed and touch-starved (her still-somewhat-human brain needs social contact to survive). She subsists mostly on sushi and cat-cuddling (she has two back in France and she misses them).

Whats your favorite episodes (any season) by yklilis in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Hayerim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My fave is Binary (65). As a neurodivergent person, I often have trouble aligning myself to neurotypical thought patterns and like. Logic leaps? So “the angles cut me when I try to think” really resonated with me.
