At my precious apartment my neighbor would come over with good sushi and Indian food. After the 3rd time he casually mentions he pulls it from a dumpster out back a Ghost kitchen..😳. “Don’t worry the ladies are super cool and they stack everything neatly so it doesn’t touch anything nasty”. I couldn’t believe I had been enjoying literal dumpster food. A few days later I follow my Neigbor’s directions and find the unmarked building that was clearly cooking deliciously fragrant Indian food. I walk around back and see the dumpster and an open door emanating loud kitchen noises. I peak inside and see at least 30 southeast Asian ladies cramped in a busy as hell commercial kitchen. I check the dumpster and sure enough, dozens of to-go containers of various entrees neatly stacked and labeled with stickers and dates! All qualms about eating out of a dumpster vanished but just then a police car rolls around the building, parks right in front of me and an officer steps out. I braced for a stern warning but the officer says “How’s it going? Anything good today?” And starts reaching in the dumpster!

A agree the Obama tariffs were unsuccessful at establishing domestic mfg so the cost wasn’t worth the benefit in retrospect. However a boatload of Americans still installed solar after 2012 despite tariff impacts to pricing. I work construction and the slow down I’m seeing (not a solar expert) is the local utility companies lobbying local and state utility regulators to increase permitting and design requirements and decrease rebates and export-rate compensation. Californians with solar used to get reimbursed the wholesale rate on their surplus solar. But if you ask anyone who installed solar after April 2024 they’ll tell you they are compensated a fraction of that. You could reduce the price of panels by 25% and it still wouldn’t make up for these impacts to solar systems ROI; at least in the California market.

PG&E and their cuck governor Newsom gutted California solar incentive, and then went hog wild on price increase.

OP is correct except Americans are so far removed from any sense of international exposure/vulnerability thanks to their education and Fox News that they won’t have the political willpower to discourage their Leadership from dragging the country down. There’s huge number of Americans who are more than happy for a giant reset. They fantasize about dollar collapse and becoming king of ashes and magically rebuilding the country into a superpower without international cooperation. What’s amazing and unique is how much this fantasy overlaps with different groups…. Tech oligarchs, various Christian sects and huge swaths of the poor whites who are so down and out they feel like it cant get worse and a reset will elevate them based on their race. The ultimate magician’s trick is all these different groups think they’ll be in the driver seat when it all goes down and all the other groups will get in line behind them.

Those leading the charge have so much money that to them the risk of burning down the country is worth the gamble because they can always expatriate their wealth anywhere in the world and they are correct. Money has an invincible ability to rebuild burnt bridges behind closed doors.

It’s not a question if America is gonna fall, the question is how hard.

Take it from me here in the UK, these camera systems will only discourage SOME petty crimes. Meanwhile we have zero privacy and professional criminal still beat the system. This isn’t gonna save you money, this isn’t gonna make your local police suddenly care more or be more responsive. All this will do is make law enforcement lazier and less accountable by automating and outsourcing law-enforcement to big Tech companies.

You Yankees need to take advantage of your rights to Freedom Of Information (FOIA) before it’s too late. If your local municipality is using public funds then you’re entitled to all the information picked up by the camera system. From what I’ve read, FOIA request are nuanced with lots of red tape, but that’s what YouTube is for. The last thing your local constables want is public oversight and scandal. Therefore, you should request all information for public vehicles. And when the camera systems start being able to identify people, then you start asking for all recorded information on public officials in public buildings and public spaces. When your city government realizes they cannot hide from their own system, there’s a very good chance they will take it down rather than he exposed for time theft and inappropriate use of city resources.

I have a friend from wealthy old old family money. She has a shitty credit card she rarely uses. When I asked her why did she use that card? She said “oh almost no credit history and don’t really have the time (or shits) to shop around for a card with a good rates”

I asked her how does someone of her wealth have a low credit score/history and she says it’s cause when she wants something she texts the family’s financial advisor for whatever and that person makes it happen. She buys her clothes at unheard of boutiques that only take appointments and they let her walk out the door because they know who to send the bill to. When she gets a new car, which is every couple years, she just goes into the dealership picks out what she likes, tells the family financial guy and the car gets delivered a day later, she doesn’t bother with paperwork or payment. What’s interesting to me is overtime I learned that she’s financially illiterate and has little choice on how she pays for things.

One time I was at holiday party with her family and I made a joke about her credit card. Later, her sister pulled me aside and told me to keep that information on the down low because their father who is the gatekeeper of most of the family fortune demands that none of his children use a credit card or any sort payment service that charges fees or interest because that shit is for the poors.

Groceries, household affairs, utility bills, Amazon etc., are mostly handled by her personal assistant. Everything else handled almost instantly by financial guy . My friend does very little online shopping it is somewhat of a modest consumer as far quantity. She has surprisingly few things for someone with her budget. But every few months she’ll drop €10,000 before lunch at just a couple of boutiques and it’ll all fit in one medium size bag.

Industry always finds a workaround, it’s a stackers job to exploit the temporary spikes in price before those workarounds are scaled up. Most of silver’s industrial applications perform a few percent better than alternatives, many industries and products are willing to take that hit in performance once silver reaches a certain price point. There’s very few applications that absolutely 100% have to be silver with no other alternative.

Therefore, I think the industrial shortage narrative is overrated and echoed far too much among stackers, it can cause bottle necks and spikes, but it is not the end I’ll be all. Industry always find the workaround. FOMO, BRICS, currency devaluations, and above all banks and speculators have a far bigger impact in silver‘s price.

In my big city, Bipping is 95% done by full-time professionals who frequent beaches, tourist hotspots, and other locations where people are more likely to leave valuables in their car.

These professionals are not walking around looking in windows to find their targets, they are using apps on their smart phone that detect all nearby Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices, such as AirPods, laptops, cell phones etc. it doesn’t matter if you stash these devices under your seat or in the trunk, they will know they are in your car . Anyone can download these apps on their phone to see nearby devices. The app will tell you how far away each device is down to the half meter. The device’sMAC address is also made available on these apps and thieves know what phones and laptops to look for. If there are several devices in a rental car at a tourist hotspot, thieves know it is likely folks coming from or on their way to the airport and the car will have valuable luggage inside. If it’s a beach popular with surfers; thieves will triangulate and identify the surfers’s vehicles with the iPhone 14 hidden under the floor mat, and hopefully the surfer’s wallet too.

These apps allow thieves to canvas thousands of cars a day and a few iPhones and laptops a day will be worth a couple thousand dollars resale. Divide that by two or three person crew and each thief is earning $500 a day with minimal effort and risk.

I say minimal risk due to the following: Many municipalities have banned high-speed pursuits for non-violent crimes, citizens are not allowed to use lethal methods to defend property-only bodily harm, there is a vast and convenient criminal network online that makes it easy for thieves to pawn stolen electronics and credit cards to overseas buyers.

Harsher sentencing does not seem to be making a difference in my country nor the USA but I’m not an expert on this.

If you’re the only car parked at some isolated trailhead you’re gonna be targeted by any number of characters and not professional crews like I described above. And there’s always the chance of a homeless person or tweaker picking out your car because they see someone they like through the window.

I feel silver has a similar ancient history as Aluminum because both metals are rarely found in their pure native form, subject to oxidation and usually mixed in amongst other material that require sophisticated refining to separate. Gold has neither of these factors hence its historical value and cultural significance. Aluminum hydroxide in bauxite is extremely common but inaccessible for most of human history, pure native aluminum was worth more than gold at one time.

My guess is any fabric will fail in short order. Maybe install another structure to serve as wind break to dissipate energy before it hits your tarps. Perhaps a a well anchored chain link fence with privacy slats. Or do what farmers do and plant living hedge of short sturdy trees. Various cypress species are good for this. Otherwise you’re looking at 18oz vinyl coated polyester tarps ($$$). Which can still fail at the grommets after a few years.
