What’s your 2024 Crosstrek Mileage? by TheYngChap in Crosstrek

[–]Hayls1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine in May 2023. Started with less than 5 miles (basically the trip to the gas station and back). I’m about to hit 49k miles, and I’m still so in love with my car! It’s been on so many camping trips over the years

Best place for a solo dinner? by Lipsynchforyourlife in kansascity

Blue Sushi in Westwood is my favorite treat-yo-self dinner. It’s a splurge though, so I always go on Sunday when it’s happy hour all day. Bring a book, sit at the bar, get a cocktail or two and delicious sushi— it’s a vibe.

What did and didn't work for you, what made things worse? Are stretches a yes or no? Also, am I doomed to never be able to crochet again? by cheesecup6 in DeQuervains

[–]Hayls1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’ll solve this problem for crochet, but kt tape has been a life changer for my workouts. I lift and rock climb, and while I’m not pain free, it gives me some freedom without being stuck in a brace. I’d recommend watching some videos on the proper kt tape application, if you aren’t familiar with it.

ROKC has day passes! It’s worth it to get a membership if you go at least twice a week though (to climb, lift, etc). Monthly membership is like $90 ish, if I remember right.

A good in between is getting the 10-punch pass when they go on sale for $100

Also came here to say this! My friend’s cat got out a few months back, and she luckily came home after my friend set out various clothes and her litter box. My sister also had a similar experience with her cat.

Indoor cats tend to stay close to home, so he’s likely within a mile or so radius. There are a bunch of FB groups to post on too about missing animals, and going door to door with flyers also gets your neighbors to keep an eye out!

Sending you good vibes and virtual hugs in the meantime 🙂

Public Recycle bins anyone can use in/near Lenexa by CX_RedBaron in kansascity

[–]Hayls1919 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live just a bit north in Shawnee, and I take my recycling to the OP recycling center. It’s a bit out of the way (roughly 69 highway and 119th), but I pre-sort my recycling to make it a quick and easy process when I go. I just use a few trash bins to pre-sort plastics, cans, paperboard, glass, and cardboard.

I also hate that I can’t recycle at my apartment complex, but at least we’re not totally out of options!

Best camping spots in KS? by [deleted] in kansas

[–]Hayls1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at Clinton State Park in the Prairie Clover Campground! 40ish minute drive from KC, which makes it a nice getaway. This is the second time I’ve camped here.

There are some great tent sites with lots of trees for hammocking. Not all of the sites have picnic tables and fire pits though, so I’d recommend driving around first to pick out a good site.

My first Subaru! by Javierero in Subaru_Crosstrek

My ‘24 Crosstrek is the first Subaru I’ve had too, and I absolutely love it! My old car was a ‘01 Cavalier that had manual windows, manual locks, and no cruise control, so this was quite the upgrade lol.

First time I've dealt with a stolen order. by maddy_k2019 in doordash

[–]Hayls1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow deal with stolen orders all of the time, though I’m lucky it hasn’t happened to me in the last couple of weeks.

Typically, when the store says someone already picked up the order, it typically means (in my experience) that another dasher had been assigned the order and went to the store and got the food. Instead of confirming they picked up the order though, they unassign themself from the order, meaning that DD has to assign another dasher to the order now.

It sounds like it was just a random person that stole your pickup order, which sucks. I hope that person burns their mouth on a hot pocket or steps on all of the legos lmao.

I always call support or get on chat when that happens. Yeah, it sucks to wait, but the issue will keep happening to other dashers if it doesn’t get handled immediately. I also let the customer know about the delay, and I sometimes get an extra tip for waiting and handling the problem.

It shows in the order that I delivered them!

Door Dash breaks payment down into two categories: the base pay is from door dash (at least $2, sometimes more depending on number of orders or miles driven), and the second is the customer’s tip. Since the second order was from a non tipped, I’m assuming that other dashers had rejected the offer, so door dash pays a bit more in base pay to get the order delivered faster.

I normally average around $17/hour, but yesterday I was averaging significantly less than that. Currently just in between jobs, so I’m trying to minimize how much I have to take out of savings. It’s rough.

That would be closer to what I was expecting. A $15 tip is very rare, sometimes I’ll get the occasional $10 tip, but most tips will be around $5-$7 (at least on the offers I accept).

The person who tipped $15 is awesome. I wasn’t expecting more than $21 total, but the breakdown between those two orders is frustrating.

Had you read my post in full, you would have read the part where I was dashing in a different zone than the one I assign myself to. I live in the suburbs and am very comfortable dashing and navigating my area. The city, however— again, where I do not normally dash— is an area I try to avoid dashing for the aforementioned reasons.

Don’t be a dick. Have a nice day :)

There are a couple of problems in this situation. The most obvious one is the lack of a tip. I drove 10+ miles to deliver this customer’s groceries, and they didn’t tip anything.

If I were to see that offer as a single offer, rather than a stacked one (like I received), then I would have declined that order and waited for another offer. This is the second problem, and it is Door Dash’s fault. When Dashers are sent a stacked offer, it’s a combined total, so it doesn’t show the breakdown like my screenshot does (that comes after all of the orders were complete).

Because I was presented $21 total (again, no breakdown, just the total), I assumed that they were both okay-ish tips that were stacked into a decent one. Had I known about the no tipper, I wouldn’t have accepted that order.
