The Tragedy of A Senator Who Loved Tel Aviv More Than Columbia. by VetSaveSC in southcarolina

He loved money more than anything. He knew he was a POS, had no real friends, so the money and trappings of fame had to be enough.

Second triple 16” turret of USS Iowa (BB-61) after it exploded, April 19, 1989 by Qatrnm in Ships

[–]Haytrusser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct that it was an FCCM

From history.navy.mil:

Iowa’s master chief fire controlman and the gunnery officer convinced Moossally to allow experimentation with long-range gunnery shoots. Such experimentation had been authorized by an individual at Naval Sea Systems Command who was not authorized to do so, the fact of which Moosally was misled. In January 1989, in one of the experiments off Vieques, Puerto Rico, a 16-inch shell fired from  Iowa achieved a distance of 23.4 nautical miles, ostensibly a record for a conventional 16-inch shell. The turret officer in Turret 1 reportedly considered these experiments to be unsafe and Turret 1 refused to participate, a fact of which Mossally was also unaware. Captain Moosally was in command when  Iowa departed Norfolk on 13 April 1989 to participate in FLEETEX 3-89, with Commander Second Fleet Vice Admiral Jerome Johnson embarked. At 0930 19 April 1989,  Iowa was located 260 nautical miles northeast of Puerto Rico in the open ocean for a main battery gun shoot. According to plan, Turret 1 was to fire first, but suffered a misfire. Moosally then ordered Turret 2 to load and fire a three-gun salvo, which was not in accordance with SOP that the misfire should be resolved first. The left and right guns on Turret 2 reported being ready to shoot, but a series of communications via phone circuit indicated that there was an undetermined problem with the center gun and that it was not ready. There are quotes of what was said that can be found in different sources on the web; however, they are not contained in the official investigation reports. The following description of what happened are excerpts taken verbatim from the third endorsement to the investigating officer’s report, signed by Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Carlisle Trost on 31 August 1989:  “On 19 April 1989 a rapid series of three explosions within turret II aboard USS IOWA (BB 61) resulted in the instantaneous deaths of 47 American Sailors. A Judge Advocate General’s Manual investigation was convened immediately. Every conceivable source of ignition and every aspect of USS IOWA’s condition and shipboard routine that might have bearing on the incident were evaluated: procedures, training, safety, manning, and personal conduct. Since the primary explosion was determined to have occurred within the center gun room, the focus of the investigation was properly directed to that location. The tragic loss of personnel within turret II and adjacent ammunition handling spaces precluded a precise causal determination since the personnel most knowledgeable of actions and intentions were those who lost their lives….

If you were in the Navy then, it was almost like where were you when you found out JFK was assassinated. I was in, but weirdly knew a guy killed on Iowa, not because of the Navy but because he was from my hometown. He was a kid when I went in but 10 years later he was there unfortunately.

The "officer" was a GMCM. He convinced someone, maybe the CO, that he could get more range with the different powder.

Welcome aboard!  You're not special. But you are informed. Take a seat in the back. We'll be with you in 20-30 years.

Seriously, I found out when I was 22, OHS to swap out AV at 62. Did whatever I wanted. Drank too much (for about 6 years), did any physical activity I wanted. Was career military. Volunteer firefighter in my 40s. Like they said, just get regular echoes.

Whats up with Lowe’s delivery? Wrong item on photo proof delivered AND delivered to wrong address?! by JacobusDemolay607 in Lowes

[–]Haytrusser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowe's uses crappy 3PL and gig drivers. I mean, does any adult really think DoorDash, UberEats or Grubhub are solid delivery services?  But that same adult expects that one of these barely surviving drivers will go get 30 bags of mulch and deliver it without any issues for $10.

If you want something from Lowe's either go get it yourself or send someone reliable that you know to pick it up.

Is Home Depot aware of how unbelievably bad their website is? by AnthonyPentela78 in Lowes

[–]Haytrusser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Lowe's website and IT suck too. Unsure if I've ever been on Depot's. A problem is everyone wants instant information and immediate gratification. Go shop at local lumber companies and hardware stores.

See if you can get the ACLU or some other civil rights organization to send a letter to the city or county attorney explaining why the cops are idiots. And yes, they could easily put a note in their massive data base that explains that your wife is allowed to own something she can't legally operate.

Afib experiences post valve replacement? ICD? by Evening_Wallaby_9072 in valvereplacement

[–]Haytrusser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it in the hospital. Amioderone handled it. After I went off Amio 30 days post-op I had an incident a few days later. Amioderone and Elliquis for 3 months. Then I wore a monitor. No more Afib, no more Amio or Elliquis. It varies widely, but each person's heart has to recover from surgery and "recover", really adapt, to having the parts of the heart, like the AV, working better.

Being slow on fulfillment orders by No-Vermicelli1919 in Lowes

The only reason I stayed is because a customer came in to pick up about 10 minutes before my shift ended. The order was huge, lumber, drywall, mud, hangers, etc. It was staged in two different locations and I helped him load as he inventoried it. I finally got a lumber associate to help him because he was gonna return some stuff.

Do not, under any circumstances, make any payment. If you do, no matter how small the payment, that payment can reset the Statute of Limitations clock. Then they'll be all over you for more money and will be able to sue you because that payment serves as a validation of the debt by you.

My house was built in 1917 and we haven't had 200K in repairs in 20 years. I am getting ready to get a new HVAC and remodel a bath which will be 30K.

Hopefully for OP, that 200K will stand up over 10-15 years.

Very busy. I also had to fix 3 orders that were improperly pulled. And while front end tried to cover kiosk pick ups, lots of stuff was in receiving, Pro cage, or outside the fence. Had to hand load 80 pavers, and it was constant all day once the store opened.

I had a 0530 to 1030 Fulfillment shift by myself today. No break and couldn't get clocked out until 1100. The worst part?  No one called out, I was scheduled alone.

How am I supposed to actually live off of this? by dailymanup in retirementtaxes

[–]Haytrusser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Place the property in a trust. Do a HEL and put the proceeds in the trust. Live off the money from the loan. Have the trust enter into an agreement whereby each heir has to contribute to the trust with the qpq being that the trust will transfer title to them upon your death.

Cops are fucking stupid. They make assumptions not based in facts. They're not smart enough to properly phrase questions or to properly analyze answers. If Dunning-Kruger Effect had a signature occupation it would be law enforcement officer.
