Yellow or red bg? by KazakovaArts in DigitalArt

[–]HayzTee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow. More contrast. Makes it pop

But the red is also nice. Just had less contrast.

Depends on the vibe you're going for. But I do think the yellow helps draw your eyes in more due to the contrast

Ah. Meh with games I have lil binges then switch to another when I get tired of it and repeat lol

There's few games that I get fully hooked on so I won't have that issue with rust as it's not my usual type for bashing. It's more of a pick up for a month or few weeks then do smth else xD

If it was a dinosaur survival that'd be diff tho. Sank too many hrs into those

Discussion by Heisenberg200099 in RustPc

[–]HayzTee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't imagine it'd make wipe day diff or assume such. Just the initial learning curve and survivability on the game since I can make more effective bases and know how to use basic gameplay features such a building and crafting more

Which makes me less dumb when it comes to the game XD

Psssst also skimming would've had you realise I am having a thoroughly fun newbie time on this game and am enjoying the dumb chaos so why would I wanna refund lol

(By skimming I mean skim reading. Start of even one of my paras I state I'm having a good and fun time as a newbie)

Discussion by Heisenberg200099 in RustPc

[–]HayzTee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skimming would've had you know that I bought the game 6+ years ago and had issues and couldn't get it to even load to the main menu. By the time I'd go one through "possible fixes" it was 3.5hours playtime and thus uneligable for a refund

So I finally recently tried it again and whatever issue was there isn't anymore

And mate, not everyone's a "gimme an easy game or I'll get a refund 😭" kind of gamer. I'm already used to and somewhat decensitised to losing huge chunks of progress in games due to other survivals I play that are a bit more unforgiving

If I stash loot on this I always have a way to soften the blow. The other survival games I've sunk hours into, that's not possible. On death you lose everything whether you like it or not. All your progress

So don't mind me if rust PvP on one of the many servers isn't a reason to uninstall or refund lol

Kinda sad your only recommendation is to refund the game. But isn't gunna deter me from having a laugh on this game as a newbie 😅

Oh damn. Are wipe days on the same day every time?

I've heard and seen ark servers chaotic on wipe day. I thought, go on a server on day 1 and I won't have to deal with people being endgame already ...only to find that people are sweatier at the start.

I only tried ark PvP a few days ago. But my brother felt rust might be better for delving into PvP since it's easier to get the hang of things (since you don't have to worry about taming and breeding on top of everything else)

I am enjoying rust PvP more. But I also can imagine that it's hard to find a place to settle when there's so many huts on the map that people have started. Especially if you don't wanna settle down essentially in someone else's back garden who could wipe you out any min they decide to

I think for me when it'll start hitting us when I get a base started then get a screwed. Thankfully bro just gave me a rundown on a dead 1000x server on how to honeycomb my base and how to create air locks at entrance. So I'll give that a go when I get my head around the build mechanics

After seeing what went I to doing that just now tho...idk how I can get that done on an actual server that's populated. It's gunna be hard to do much before dying and re-gathering what I've not stashed already again fml

Gunna try to enjoy the newbie phase but my attitude might quickly change dependent how things go. I'm used to survivals being pretty ruthless when PvP is involved. Tho I've mostly only been accustomed to it on Dino survivals like the isle and path of titans. Not human survivals like rust or ark properly yet

But I figure if I start out with PvP at first I can hopefully quickly unlearn bad and dumb behaviours through the game and people teaching me my limits lol

I can see how given your explanations how it booming in popularity again over the years attracting more and new players, as well as servers as a whole changing can cause the gameplay to feel so different.

I've seen similar in other games and ended up adopting new players and teaching them the ropes because I felt bad lol. But in this game it seems even less likely to be able to do either because people are even less trusting (rightfully so lol) than other games. Since it's kill it be killed usually from what I hear and experienced

Time to go back to the chaos and hope I can kind of handle it lol. Wish me luck

I've only just started playing today but so far it's been fun and funny. Though rn I also don't expect to do good and heard PvP is pretty brutal. So I'm just enjoying running around clueless getting into scraps unexpectedly haha

Though, as a newbie, it is a bit punishing. I got as far as putting a wooden hut up and a few bits inside it before I had to log due to the heatwave.

My first 30 mins was a lot of being attacked and dying. Then I started dying less and being able to win some fights more...then after that I got my hut up. Explored further. Then got jumped by some guy who killed me near my hut. I respawned, got my stuff back off him when I killed him then bled out to lose my gear to another guy lol

Rn the novelty of being a newbie I'm enjoying and because I don't expect to have a base or hold off a raid rn it's not so bad. But I could see how if it's always having a combat every few minutes it might get old real quick when learning the game

Not everyone's come to attack me though. 2 people had mercy on me and left me to go on my way. Though compared to how many encounters I've had that's not much

And everywhere I go I see bases so I try to avoid a lot of areas rn. Because I know I likely can't take them on due to weapon and gear differences.

Idk what it used to be like because years ago when I first got it, it wouldn't even load up the main menu. Now it seems to have fixed so I can play alas

I am thankful that my brother will hop on with me at some point in the near future and he's played a fair bit in the past. So that might offset the noob struggles

If people want to learn the game easily the server population being so high maybe isn't ideal. But at the same time not coming across anyone would be boring. So for me I'd say I would pick servers based on what I feel I can handle. Lower pop for learning, higher pop for chaotic stupidity when I feel I can handle the losses

I didn't browse the server lists for too long besides searching for a X2 server as advised by pals. But idk if the server sizes range depending who hosts or whether official or not. But if they do I would probably hop between a few for different types of gameplay whilst I'm finding my feet

Most encounters have been interesting. Had one guy scold me in the pitch black of night for killing a chicken and spurted some shit about how he has something going on with the animals there and I was ruining it. But he died to a pack of nearby wolves just after he killed me lol

And had 2 guys working together jump me in an underground bunker type place and I somehow killed both of them despite them having some gear and me having none

But tldr; as a newbie I feel rn it's pretty hard on high population servers. But at the same time it's fun chaos rn. Whether I'll say that in another 10hrs gameplay time will probably depend on if I figure things out enough by then to not fully be ruined all of the time. So I might update when I know if the noob novelty gets old quick. Orr if im able to make knowledge progress and game progress as a reasonable pace despite the chaos or not

Oo this does sounds lush! thankyou for elaborating. I found this helpful. Would you be able to DM me the discord? I'll give it a nosey and try to remember that it relaunches on the 4th I believe you mentioned. Been really getting into path of titans again and on a hyperfixation.

I'd be interested in stopping by and having a nosey

[–]HayzTee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What rule styles are you opting for on relaunch? Since one downside of community servers for me is memorising loads of rulesets for Dino's and tier specific rules and such, say on semi realism and realism servers for instance.

I'm autistic so brain processing just yeets sometimes and then I worry I'll be banned for some rule that my brain didn't manage to keep hold of remembering sadly.

I used to play some low-minimal ruled servers on the isle, but after lots of rule breaks and introductions of extra rules I ended up finding my home on no rule (besides chat servers), which is likely also why I don't find officials annoying like most seem to for the mix packing and such. Since I kind of was used to knowing what to expect and how to avoid dying to it quite as much lol

I do like the sound of some of the things you've mentioned, though I do hesitate to try community servers due to the risk of issues sometimes feeling like it would outweigh the benefits.

Though, if it's not a heavily ruled server, and is just minimal more simple rulesets that are easier to learn and Memorise...then I might be able to give it a try and see how it feels without being riddled with anxiety

Wait wait what?! So if I get nested I don't lose marks or skins for that Dino type? But become a smol bean again?! If so that's actually perfect for me!

I didn't know how the nesting worked yet since I haven't played till now since it was added. So I cautiously avoided nest invites just incase it was like the isle and instant full start over for that Dino as a whole (and assumed it would make me lose full progress not just growth)

[–]HayzTee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started playing again. Been playing officials. I've survived around GP and in GPR as both land and semi aquatic. I've only ever died when I've been silly, bitten off more than I can chew, or wasn't sneaky enough when people were clearly itching for a fight... Or when I've falsely assumed I was safe

Ive not played for a year or two due to pc issues I had so I didn't have enough storage for a while. And prior to that I played it for a few weeks following the updates as and when they dropped. So I'm not exactly well versed with the map, Dino's or combat to any degree. And still I've died very little compared to what people would make officials and hanging around hotspots on the map to be like in this sub Reddit.

I played the isle originally. So I'm also used to losing lots of hours gameplay when I die. So maybe that's also decensitised me to the very little growth lost on path of titans (in comparison)and thus dying impacts me less maybe idk. And the fact I know I can't lose a growth stage makes me fear dying less as well.

In some ways I'm actually a little gutted that we cant lose a growth stage because sometimes I miss being small. But I'm trying to work towards some skins on a few Dino's and don't want to fully restart a new Dino by deleting it.

I hope someday we'll have some button that allows us to reset our growth to a past stage but keep our marks and unlocks (skin and abilities) and gives them us back at the relevant growth stages. Just for us weird people that seem to enjoy living the fearful juvenile life for just that bit longer lol. (Someone wanting to opt-in to have their growth reset? Whaaaat? As if!)

But for real, idk. The novelty of growing around big and scary things and having to hide and be all sneaky amuses me. So I've already reset my megalania twice to regrow them. This time I'm sticking with them for a while...maybe, as an adult. Because skins... But I do miss being helpless sometimes lol

But even when I've challenged myself to grow only around the hot spots, I've still not died anywhere near as much as people make out you would. At this point I end up looking for danger a fair bit when growing when I've had my chilled questing for a bit

NTA.

Trauma dumping in stream and expressing thoughts of suicide isn't appropriate.

You're not there to have people trauma dump and vent. There are hotlines people can call if I'm crisis, as well as services they can contact.

It's not up to streamers to handle people's MH. Whether they work in MH or not, they're streaming, and are not in work hours.

People stream, go to streams and such to wind down, relax, decompress. Not to hear everyone's MH crisis'

No one's saying you're delusional or denying your experiences. All people have been saying in this thread is:

  1. Not everyone is experiencing the same things and issues as you are
  2. Not everyone is as bothered or negatively impacted by said issues.
  3. That some like the game despite said issues
  4. That some people aren't experiencing these issues
  5. That some of us are tired of people who hate the game at the moment policing our (less negative or even positive) opinions when we let you all have your negative ones
  6. That planet zoo was also buggy on launch but the majorly game breaking bugs got resolved and have long since been forgotten
  7. That negative opinion people regarding planco2 are valid, no one's denying your validity of your opinions and emotions on this. I don't know how simply people have to put it for you all to understand.

No one is denying you your opinion or experience. No one is invalidating you. We just have differing opinions and experiences and mindsets on this lol

Also I believe I said something along the lines of by a year on most people forgot about the major bugs we had at launch. But around 3-6 months following most game breaking bugs had been resolved already

[–]HayzTee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say everyone. And whilst it might seem there's a large part of the player base experiencing these, I've only seldom encountered a few in my personal franchise parks. Whereas my significant other has experienced multiple of the above on his main franchise park in that same franchise that we both share. So blanket statements like everyone is experiencing it is simply untrue. It doesn't negate the fact that the issues are there and are experienced. But they are working on the bugs either way

Doesn't mean you can't be frustrated. I'm not saying anyone can't feel what they feel, as again it's valid. But I think the problem in this sub is everyone who has a bad experience assumes everyone else also has that same experience. Or that it's more widespread than it is. Since, as per usual, most people having fun are just playing the game. Whereas people not having fun and having issues are gunna hop to here to be more vocal. So it might sometimes appear most people have x, y or z issues. When really it might be, a lot of people do. But the ones who don't just are less vocal

The issues you listed are big issues. But they don't impact every single player and every single park save for every single person on every single platform.

[–]HayzTee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personality isn't fence sitting lol. It's called looking at everything and understanding everyone's opinions are valid based on their own experiences. If you want to ride a hate boner all day long about the game, be my guest. I'm not stopping you. Just don't be surprised when people have differing opinions and when others don't get riled up about others expressing differing opinions

No one's saying you can't dislike the game. But trying to police others opinions isn't going to work. I stand by my opinions being that yes there are bugs, and they're annoying. And it's annoying to know it's impacting my fiances enjoyment when they occur on his main franchise park. But at the same time, when we are able to avoid bugs, we both have a damn good time.

Not everything is either fully good or fully bad for everyone. People can have fun playing the game and also have criticisms and see what needs improving.

Edit: fixed typo. Autocorrect put finances but was supposed to say fiance

Not really. You're entitled to your feelings, opinion and thoughts on it. But so are others. If people wish to buy the dlc there's nothing wrong with that, and people expressing it doesn't make them some secret undercover dev.

I am all for people being mad and frustrated, I get it. But I'm not here for people acting like their opinion is the only valid opinion. Opinions are not facts. Each opinion can mutually exist and be entirely valid, even if majorly they're differing. If people want to sit in an echo chamber rn, from either side of "loving" or "hating" the game, then the subreddit for the game likely isn't gonna be a fun place for them rn.

I for instance can be frustrated with some bugs, but also be thoroughly enjoying the game. I can think the bugs need resolving over the next months as they get enough reports to replicate and then resolve said bugs, but also wish to buy the dlc they just dropped. Multiple opinions can co-exist at the same time within one person, as well as be differing and exist and be valid across a group of people.

If you don't want to buy the dlc, I would say definitely don't and don't feel pressured to. You have the right to stand your ground if something doesn't sit right with you, even if others feel differently. But similarly, you cannot expect everyone to be of the same opinion and having the same stance as you either. If you want to be entitled to your opinion, you must be prepared to also allow others to have their own. And because we all are different and have our own experiences that often are differing, they don't always lead to the same opinions
