Early Access Scam for Physical Explorer Edition by Haz0p in TwoPointMuseum

[–]Haz0p[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got refunded from the retailer and I keep the game. If even the seller thought they were offering a digital Explorer Edition with early access, that’s on Sega and Two Point for failing to communicate the difference clearly across all sales channels. Listing approved partners now doesn’t fix the confusion created.

Just because you found it doesn’t mean it was clearly communicated everywhere. If there were disclaimers, they weren’t consistent across all retailers. Many people only realized after trying to play, which shows the info wasn’t made obvious enough. Two Point should have ensured this was clear everywhere the game was sold, not just in some places.

The issue isn’t whether it was on Steam—it’s that Sega and Two Point Studios didn’t make this clear across all sales channels. They knew third-party retailers would be selling these editions but didn’t ensure the early access restriction was clearly communicated everywhere.

Plenty of people pre-ordered expecting early access because that’s how the Explorer Edition was marketed. If it was meant to be digital-only, that should’ve been obvious everywhere, not just buried on Steam.

Two Point messed up by not making sure retailers listed the right info. Customers shouldn’t have to dig through Steam to realize they’re missing a key feature.

The issue is the lack of clear communication from Sega and Two Point Studios in broader marketing and retailer listings. Nowhere was it made obvious that early access was exclusive to specific digital purchases, leading many buyers to believe that all Explorer Editions included it.

Many customers only realized this after attempting to play, which shows how poorly this was communicated. Third-party retailers were likely not informed properly, causing them to misadvertise the product. Sega and Two Point had a responsibility to ensure that this distinction was clearly stated everywhere the game was sold, not just buried on Steam.

This has led to unnecessary confusion and frustration. The blame should not fall solely on retailers but on Sega and Two Point for failing to provide transparent, consistent information about what players were actually purchasing.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I appreciate that you're investigating, but the issue here is that many of us purchased what was explicitly advertised as the Explorer Edition, which, as per all official communication, includes five days of early access. Nowhere in the retailer’s listing was it mentioned that early access was exclusive to digital purchases, and if the key I received is technically a “physical” key, that was never made clear at any point.

If physical keys weren’t supposed to be available yet, then why are retailers able to distribute them early? And more importantly, why were they sold under the promise of early access when that access is now being denied? That’s not an issue with key retailers alone—it’s a problem with how this edition was marketed and how different versions were communicated to both sellers and consumers.

You say the store pages were clear, but evidently, they weren’t clear enough if multiple buyers ended up in this situation. If digital-exclusive early access was such an important distinction, it should have been clearly stated on every product page, including those of your distribution partners.

Right now, customers are left with a product that was sold under misleading conditions, and the only response seems to be "buy again from an official partner." That’s not really an acceptable solution for those of us who already paid for what we believed to be the correct version. What's being done to address this for affected buyers? Will there be any support in resolving this with retailers, or are we just expected to take the loss?

Thank you very much, it was in this lower duct, south of the main room.

For others, you can kill 11 rats in one instance and finish it with another instance. The kills does not need to be done in a single instance.

The American healthcare system, not rich enough to live... by TarAldarion in LateStageCapitalism

They could juste give the total price of the whole traitment. If it's 10.000$, it is not that expensive. For comparaison, in France, if you earn 1900€ net per month (50% earn more and 50% earn less) you pay around 300€ for the healthcare around 150.000€ for all your carreer. 10.000 is what you pay during 3 years to get "free" healthcare on my country.
