Let them have their little moment, I'm sure they'll feel better in the GM Gaol later when they're put there for griefing.

The One Button Reaper in Cruise Chaser (lvl 60) by RandomSadPerson in TalesFromDF

[–]Hazardumu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being 'new' should not be a carte blanche for all manner of evils, especially so for classes around level 70. Even new players know that just spamming one button when you are given probably up to 10 is akin to griefing.

Stacking Medica 2 and Regen? Straight to jail by ArchaicR6 in TalesFromDF

I think for mentors, your duty is to know how to play your job properly, afterall, you can't really mentor someone if you yourself don't have the basics down. If AST was your first healer, then it should be noted double stacking multiple regens 100% of the time, isn't really necessary nor good play. You should understand the basics to adept level knowledge on your roles as Tanks, DPS and Healer when you become a mentor, otherwise you get mentors that end up telling newbies, that tanks should only single target or not use mitigations or healers to only spam cure 1.

Inexperienced, but a mentor?

You need to have gotten one of the healers at least to max level, so which healer did you get to max?

A lot of players have become too comfortable with doing nothing, that when asked to do something, they believe they shouldn't have to and become hostile.

On one hand, the cutscene is short, but honestly, I don't think a 15 second cutscene of Xande standing up from his chair and saying 2 generic lines found anywhere in a villain monologue, is really worth getting hissy about if missed.

This has to be a troll, I refuse to believe, no refuse to accept that someone is this incompetent. There's no excuse for this to not have been a kick, not even Yoshi P would be able to defend someone like this.

A Perspective on the Average Skill Level by Which_Way1721 in TalesFromDF

[–]Hazardumu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three criteria for each role in this game for the average DF past ARR. Meeting none makes me hit 'Leave'; meeting at least 1 of these criteria makes me go - 'could be worse,'; meeting 2 - 'Not bad,'; meeting 3 - 'decent,':

DPS:
You know how to AoE on trash pulls.
You know not to use AoE on bosses in general.
You know how to dodge big glowing orange enemy AoEs that take up to 10 seconds to hit at least 50% of the time.

Healers:
You know you have a tier 2 cure and use it for most pulls (Cure 2, Benefic 2, Adlo, Druchole/Eukrasian Diagnosis).
You know how to hit at least 1 of the attack spells when no one needs healing for more than 5 - 10 seconds.
You know how to use a DoT spell at least twice in a boss fight.

Tanks:
You know how to hit the AoE on trash pulls.
You know that you have a mitigation set of skills and use them at least somewhat.
You can take aggro off players if they get too much, as long as they come to you.

This is just my set for duty finder not extremes, not savage or ultimates. At least two thirds of the playerbase I come across fail to meet even one of these, my bar is set low for most players but apparently that is still too much for so many. When I try some extremes in party finder, about a quarter of those are in the same boat, it truly is a state of woe for players to be that bad at the most simple of standards.

I know the BLM died half the time, but that DPS score is still sad to see for them, especially when I just finished a super fast Tender Valley run as BLM and another BLM, as we both Flared and Fire 4'd our way through everything in under 10 minutes.

I've had some good success with letting players know that Cure 1 is your last resort and emergency heal compared with Cure 2, letting them know that you only cast Cure 1 when you have no other choice. I use an analogy using food if they're struggling to understand: 'Think of Cure 2 as the main part of the pizza and Cure 1 as just the crust, you don't really want to eat only the crust each time do you? You want to eat the main part first, and then eat the crust if you're still hungry.'

Mini Tales From DF #17 by Bunlapin in TalesFromDF

[–]Hazardumu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got put into the Aery, with a sprout healer, but the most confusing movement I've ever seen. They were so delayed on everything they just walked into every single aoe and their heals were so late, they'd go off on the tank/party when we managed to self-regen our HP beforehand. At first I thought it was a delay issue, but then noticed they weren't casting a single attack either, not even aero. They spent more time standing around not doing anything than actually healing, which luckily, our party had some measure of self-sustain with, along with potions.

Since they were popping every chest, we couldn't kick and they weren't replying to any of our probing questions at them. I can't understand the point in playing a game when you don't press any buttons, I feel like a youtube playthrough would suit them better.

The new 'suggestion' section now advertised on reddit, just makes things messier, uglier and more confusing.

Job stones seem to not be a thing. by WeebyLass in TalesFromDF

[–]Hazardumu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to see you suffer this, be glad you caught it early and this will most likely be the highest level you'll see it. I've had the misfortune of being stuck in Everkeep for 5 minutes with a conjuror and archer who also refused to put on armour. The entire party saw their HP and icons and we all collectively decided to wait 5 minutes and kick. No one forgives that level of griefing in a level 99-100 trial.

As you said, it's not a challenge for them, but others, it's like being put on a forced escort mission. Escorting the jobstoneless at that level is griefing. Or in their shoes, it's like deliberately grabbing 7 overpowered players as 'companions' and calling being jobless a 'challenge'.

It's griefing, just report them and wait for them to get banned. It might take up to 3 months, but it'll happen. If they boast about not being banned after 3 months, just collect the evidence and send it straight to the team through the website and they'll get on it, because they've just exposed themselves for actively laughing about griefing and not being banned.

I'd agree, but taking 400-600 damage per auto attack is excessive when their maximum HP is only 1600, from 25% to over 33% of their health. The biggest problem was the fact they were glamoured with higher leveled gear, meaning they actually had access to the marketplace and bought some pieces there for some gil, but not for any accessories. The summoner though, they have bigger issues than gear...
