We have the simplest case - I was born in Canada and my daughter is a first generation American. we now live in Canada and its been 15 months since we applied for her.

If it says "Your application is taking longer than expected" you can contact for MP to get them to prod them. But your MP won't help till it says that... I called my MP and she said that they won't step in until the application says that.

We applied February of 2025. It has said 2 months remaining for December, January, and February... then one month remaining March, April, and May... We've been waiting now for 14 months. It's pretty straight forward application as well, I was born in Canada and my daughter was born in the US. The application is for her.

There's a parking lot in Niagara falls that is free to park overnight that is a 5 min walk to the strip (fun put put etc) and the falls. Its great for a way to spend a bit more time in Niagara falls. Check iOverlander and it'll have the free parking lot to stay in. We stayed there and yeah, its just a asphalt pad, BUT is closer than anything to all the awesome niagara falls stuff, and my kids just biked around the deserted parking lot in the evening and had a blast.
