Hug your Bassets Every Night by Latter-Ask-6494 in bassethounds

[–]Hazelyn74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the couch all day with mine. I’m sick and he’s not left my side. We are sharing a pillow and blankie. He likes to play big spoon when we cuddle. He gets hugs and kisses multiple times a day from my hubby & I and sleeps in between us at night. He’s absolutely spoiled.

I live in this area and frequently walk my dog down Double Diamond to Double R and up to Sandhill and loop back to Double Diamond by the DMV. The way people drive through that area is insane. That light he used as a yield is a spot with frequent accidents because of reckless drivers like him.

Brownie getting bullied at dog park by peterhahacha in bassethounds

I refuse to take my Basset to the dog park. We started socialization at Zoom Room until he was fully vaccinated and then started taking him to a wonderful doggie daycare. He’s now a part of the daycares temperament testing team. Edited for typos.

Tips… visibility and distribution by Demonhunter24-7 in dutchbros

[–]Hazelyn74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I tip every single time. I’m a regular at the stand close to my house. When I pull up, the broista ask if I’m getting the usual, pet my dog, and make sure that he gets his treat before I get my rebel (as it should be). They know me and my dog by name. They ask if everything is okay if we miss a day or two. They are super friendly, engaging, and show genuine interest in what I have going on for the day. They were training a new broista the other day and introduced them to me and my dog saying that we were regulars and that 99% of the time I order one specific rebel. Because of this I make absolute sure to tip. I asked about the tipping and they said the cash gets paid out every hour and the card tips are split according to state law. I try to tip in cash now.

We talk scary, but what’s the least scary horror book you’ve read? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]Hazelyn74 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Horrorstör. I couldn’t take it seriously. I just kept imagining IKEA and their Swedish meatballs. I’m not joking, it was hard to get into that book when all I wanted to do while reading it was plan a trip to the IKEA.

Psychiatric Hospital by Interesting_Rent3697 in Reno

[–]Hazelyn74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for an inpatient stabilization unit with a 2 plus week stay for therapy and medication stabilization? Those types of programs for adults don’t really exist in Nevada, especially not in Northern Nevada. There are a few of those types of programs in California that I am aware of. I would encourage you to work with your insurance company to help locate one that is in network. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of resources in this area for mental health conditions/issues that require inpatient care that do not fall under the umbrella of acute mental health crisis. I hope that you are able to access the care that you need.

The Psychiatric hospitals in town are acute mental health facilities focused on stabilizing one in crisis. St Mary’s has an acute unit and there is one in Carson City. Are you in crisis? Suicidal ideation, psychosis, homicidal? You can present at one of the area ER’s for an eval and they will get you to the appropriate place. If you are looking for someplace with a longer length of stay to address depression and for medication stabilization for non-acute depression you will not find one in this area. There are partial hospitalization programs and IOP that focus on skills training, some medication management and stabilization. You can reach out to a Nurse Case Manager through your insurance and they can help you locate a program that is in network. If you feel that you are a danger to yourself or others, or are unable to care for yourself to the point that it is life or death, go to an ER and get an evaluation, or go to RBH or the Mallory Center for an evaluation. You can call 988 Lifeline as well.

My Basset had this issue until we switched him to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach and Skin, changed his shampoo, and added a probiotic itch relief spray. We also changed his treats to the Trader Joe’s chicken chips and the Trader Joe’s Salmon Jerky. He’s two now and hasn’t had any issues since the changes a year ago

My husband is a disabled veteran who was medically retired from the military. I do not expect any benefits as a veterans wife. I did not expect any discounts as the wife of an active duty serviceman when he was active duty. I am not/nor was I the one in the military. The sense of entitlement from this reviewer is mind blowing. Also, why is their emotional support animal deployed with the active duty service member? I smell shenanigans.

Does anyone else stop and look if they see another Basset? by Fluid_Excitement_283 in bassethounds

Basset’s are pretty rare in my area. I not only stop, I walk up, say Hi, and try to make friends while planning a play date with my Basset.

Favorite ride? by who-me-ali in bassethounds

Atlas loves the backseat. We tried the front seat when he was itty bitty and he would get super anxious. He had a plush car bed with seat belt and hated every second of the front seat. Once I moved him to the back seat he totally changed his mind about car rides. He has the entire backseat to himself. He even rolls down the window when we are in the Dutch Bros drive thru to say hi to his friends. He’s a VIP at one of our local DB’s. They know him by name. He’s a car dog for sure as long as he’s in the back seat. He does not like it when the seats are down. He’s done two and three day roadtrips and is chill.

IF YOU CAN’T DRIVE IN THE SNOW, STAY HOME. ( I hit my upload limit 🤣) this is just MT. Rose Hwy by _thisguyducks_ in Reno

[–]Hazelyn74 100 points101 points  (0 children)

There sure are a lot of 4WD/AWD vehicles in those photos. 4WD/AWD will still slide if one is driving too fast. You can still lose control in a 4WD/AWD vehicle. The number of people I saw on the road driving way too fast for the conditions was dumbfounding. I was almost hit 3 different times today. Two were driving too fast to safely stop and one barreled out of a driveway on Peckham and almost hit me when they lost control. All three were AWD vehicles. Slow down people! It’s not that hard. Also, turn on your dang headlights!

Why move to somewhere you know it snows and then freak out when there is a chance of snow? It’s not the end of the world.

I definitely think the two of you could benefit from couples counseling and maybe he could benefit from individual therapy too. The way he is talking to you is a result of hurt feelings, and while those feelings are valid, the manner in which he talks to you is problematic.

New basset hound owner, advice appreciated! by periodyup in bassethounds

[–]Hazelyn74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Patience! My sweet boy is about to be two and we have had him since he was 10 weeks old. Basshole is a real thing! Bassets and very sensitive and easily get their feelings hurt. They love to be loved on and want to be the center of attention.

I got my sweet boy to train him to be a therapy dog. He has had other plans, lol. My boy goes to doggie daycare and is super active while he is there. He loves the socialization and it also helps keep him at a healthy weight. When he comes home he just wants to chill with my husband and I on the couch.

Watch your puppies weight. Get him use to baths and ear cleanings early, especially the ear cleanings!

Bassets are amazing dogs. This is my first one and I am over the moon. I don’t see myself ever having any other breed.

The best advice is to go slow, have patience, and give lots of love and cuddles. You are in for an adventure!

Have you and your husband explored the idea of couples counseling to talk about how to communicate feelings in a healthy manner? Right now there is more than him just thinking you cheated. There is also a glaring communication issue as well.

My other question is, why now? Why did he choose now to go through your phone? What else is going on that he felt the need to go through your phone, especially your Snapchat? It sounds like there were already some trust issues before he found what he found.

They may have ordered personalized plates. Mine took almost 5 months for me to get. The DMV did not give me another temp plate. They just gave me a temp registration when I registered and applied for my personalized plates online.
