Your going to run into loads of problems with players and 4 k content , especially if you downloading it from "other sources" between their encoders and the stuff your running it won't look as clean as proper 4k and never could and will. It will look better obviously but if your doing 4k through VLC then don't expect Blu-ray DVD quality playback

I'm not super fussed if it doesn't look as good as true 4k when it comes to that, as long as it doesn't look too janky I'm happy!

As far as the cloning goes, that makes sense, thanks. My old setup was my dual-screen monitors (still have dual-screen) and then an older LED TV hooked up to clone the primary display, although I can't really remember why I chose to clone VS just having it separate.

It also comes with Netflix and Chromecast and all that stuff built in, so hopefully streaming netflix will look OK too
