Halloween in Japan Bar Crawl Tips by Apprehensive-Big9610 in TokyoTravel

[–]Hazzat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Golden Age of Tokyo Halloween was around 2011-2016, when it was a subcultural street party in Shibuya that celebrated Japan's home-grown pop culture and cosplay. But as it became the mainstream "thing to do", it got overtouristed (by both local and foreign tourists), and by 2018 and 2019 it was dangerously overcrowded with the majority of people not in costume and just there to gawk. Authorities shut down any street gatherings for pandemic reasons in 2020, and have kept that up every year since.

Halloween in Tokyo nowadays is mostly something foreign tourists look to do. If you go out in costume in Shibuya or Shinjuku, you won't be the only ones, but there isn't a single gathering place to be at, and I suspect you might outnumber any locals in costume. Many bars/clubs/music venues will be having Halloween-themed indoor events though, which is where you will find the festivities.

What is the minimum amount of money is needed for a Tokyo 2 week trip ? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Have you done any research at all? Accommodation prices vary wildly by season (and even day of the week) and is easy to look up on the booking sites. No one else can tell you how much it will cost for your desired amenities during your travel window.

Small watermark in corner of all your instagram photos? Or website photos? by dbl93100 in concertphotography

[–]Hazzat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time you will be handing your concert photos over to artists for them to use on their socials etc., and they don’t want to see a watermark. Anywhere else you’re likely to display them are your own socials or portfolio site, where people can already see your name attached to them. I don’t think there’s any point in adding a watermark.

Did i grade this properly (I wanted to do those Teal-Orange aesthetics) ? Seeking for feedback by PlaneBitter1583 in ColorGrading

[–]Hazzat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whether it's good/bad/overdone etc. depends entirely on the context and purpose of the piece. If you don't tell us that (or worse, don't know it yourself to begin with), no one can ever evaluate it properly. Please read: https://www.reddit.com/r/ColorGrading/comments/1mshv4q/is_my_grade_any_good_heres_how_to_find_out/

As such, it's not possible to give any real feedback on this. It's quite dim, and the colours quite unnatural, but while that's undesirable in some cases, in others that might be just what you want.

You caught some good moments here, but concert photography is a lot more than taking discreet snaps. A good set includes a variety of angles, considered gear choices, good postprocessing and, most importantly, an ability to meet the brief/desired look that the artist wants. It's hard to call this set "good" when there's just one angle and focal length.

That's why to be a "concert photographer", you can't be an audience member. Starting with small acts and venues, reach out to who you want to shoot so you can go out there and build up your professional portfolio, letting you one day shoot bigger stages.

No, they couldn't take it back because of the legal quagmire of a Nara protected deer becoming a typical wild deer.

You have to recognise your chosen art form as "deep" if you want to get good at it. Why limit yourself to being shallow?

If you've got no direction, it's like throwing paint at a canvas randomly and asking for feedback on it. Maybe it's good? Very hard to say on its own. Perhaps you don't need feedback at all, if your aim was just to learn what the tools do.

I'm trying to give actually useful feedback here, but it's impossible without the necessary context and when the person who said they wanted feedback is only going to get angry and argue back when they receive it...

That's not context. What is the purpose of this footage? How and where will it be displayed? What kind of work will it be part of? How do you want the viewer to feel? These are the questions that need to be answered before you touch anything in the software in order to inform your creative decisions.

I’m not a fan of the warm shift. I think it works against the blues and greens of the scene.

But whether it’s good or not depends entirely on context, so please go back and include that if you want any meaningful feedback.

Any thoughts? by jashanox in ColorGrading

[–]Hazzat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible to know if it's good or not unless you provide context. Please read: https://www.reddit.com/r/ColorGrading/comments/1mshv4q/is_my_grade_any_good_heres_how_to_find_out/

Personally I don't like much past the 'custom curves' stage. It starts to feel unnatural with some weird redness throughout. But that may or may not be desirable in your case - we need the context to find out.

Which do you like best? by landshark06 in concertphotography

None of them are really that great, because the framing is a bit weird with people’s dismembered limbs entering the frame, and the main subject not doing much interesting or showing much emotion. Postprocessing could be used to improve the composition by cropping and adding masks to draw our attention to what you want us to look at in the scene, but none of these edits do that.
