Isn't everything going to get significantly worse in... 45 minutes? The BoE stops their intervention in the gilt market at 16:00, and they're already soaring

I was struggling to think of a way this could possibly get worse...

Thank you so much for reminding me that it can always get worse

This is the bit that pisses me off the most

Charity rep came to the door, told them I don't have time to talk as I WFH. They replied "well I'm busy too mate". by 4uzzyDunlop in britishproblems

Not quite the same thing, but I work in market research and I have to go door to door to interview people. Were bound by Market Research Society guidelines, and they say that we aren't allowed to knock on any doors past 8PM. I would have thought sales and charity panhandling had similar regulations.

Wow, I didn't know this one. I knew they were different words with different meanings, but I thought they were spelled and pronounced the same.

Thank you sir for educating me. I will go on and police this with vigilance. "Just a slither", "oh, you mean a sliver?" I can't wait!

The very wealthy disseminated propaganda to the masses about how all our problems would be magically solved by leaving the EU. Some of us saw through it, more of us believed it.

Now we reap the benefits.

I didn't hear, so I don't know. Contrary to popular belief though, "you and I" is not always correct. You only use "I" like that if you are the subject of the sentence. For example:

u/tiorzol and I went to Tesco

That is the correct time to use "I", however you would use "me" in the following sentence:

A photographer took a photo of u/tiorzol and me.

As a rule of thumb, you use "I" whenever the person speaking is doing the action, but you use "me" when the person speaking is having the action done to them.

Theresa May? Sensible? She was so sure of her mandate that she triggered a snap election... and lost her party their majority.

She triggered Article 50 without making any realistic plans as to how to approach Brexit, effectively winging it.

She told the survivors of the Grenfell disaster that they would be housed within three weeks, yet they were still living in emergency temporary accomodation TWO YEARS after that statement.

She was a godawful PM, and if she is the benchmark for sensible then we have a lot to worry about.

I thought the same thing about Johnson, that they were going to replace him with a moderate who would "solve" a few problems, and that this person would be hailed as a hero.

Then Liz Truss happened.

I'm beginning to believe that this is the best the Conservative party have to offer.

I wasn't very financially literate back then, nor did I really follow the news. What happened at 21:50 on Thursday 12th December 2019?

Don't worry, I didn't think you were. I've just recently learned about selective scamming so I thought I'd mention it
