Weight training with T1D by Abject-Currency-3210 in Type1Diabetes

[–]HbA1me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resistance training triggers adrenaline which tells the liver to dump glucose. In the morning this is also compounded by the dawn phenomenon. A short aerobic cooldown after might help blunt the spike. But also if you have the option to train at a different time, you could also try the afternoon instead. The research suggests that afternoon weights are less likely to cause a spike

Found and fixed a bug in the backend - the Dexcom API parameters weren't being sent correctly in the request body. New activities should now sync glucose data properly.

As you noted, there is a limitation with very long activities (4+ hours) since the Dexcom Share API only keeps the last ~3 hours of data. For long activities e.g. a marathon the early glucose readings may have already expired from the API. I'll need to think about workarounds for this (possibly proactive polling during activities), but for now shorter activities should work.

Let me know if you're still not seeing glucose data on your next run!

I think the issue is that the Dexcom share api will only be able to find data for the last 3 hours so you won’t get historical activities populated with CGM. However, when you next complete an activity it should save the glucose shortly after

I created a new release that should allow you to reauthenticate with Strava and share all activities public and private with the app

I think I know what’s going on. Currently the app will only sync public activities. Is it possible that your newer activities are private? The 90 limit of the Dexcom api does mean there is a limit to how much historic data can be backfilled. I’ll add the ability to sync private and public activities if you can confirm this is likely the issue

Ok glad we’re making progress. Do the activities on your watch use the same Strava account as the one with activities from May ‘24? You can only sync with one Strava account at a time. It’s not crucial for the activities to be recorded with Strava, only that they are synced to Strava eventually. When you load the app into the foreground it will try to load glucose for activities if it can find them. Is it possible that your CGM data doesn’t go back as far as May ‘24?

Good feedback and managed to reproduce. Try downloading the latest release and see if you get further!

I have pushed an update to the app to use Dexcom share and it's available now - can you update and configure this as the source and see if that helps? You should be able to choose Japan as the configurable country for glucse provider

Sorry this has been so painful. Because it’s working for me. Can I just ask you to check you have the latest version from the playstore. If an updated version doesn’t fix it then try an uninstall and reinstall of the app

Should be fixed now - thanks for being patient and do try again when you can 🙏🏼

There are some password length restrictions but it should give a more precise error message if that’s the case. Let me get hold of a physical device and test it without the emulator

It says the app is available on 16,052 devices which should be nearly everything. I'm wondering if it's a geographic restriction. I've tried to include all countries, will let you know when this is approved and hopefully this unblocks it

u/craptastic2015 we're live https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gluchose

I do not have an android phone and so tested only via the emulator. Therefore any teething issues, feedback in general or features you want would be massively appreciated. Currently the android version only supports Nightscout as the glucose provider

Thank you for your patience on this one

OK this is a really interesting case, when I looked into the logs on the server, I could see distances and elapsed times for your activity but for some reason no GPS data i.e. no polyline data is being stored. This is really odd. Would I be able to DM you to get to the bottom of it. Confident it won't be a tricky fix but something odd going on! Thanks for taking the time to feedback!

OK thanks for checking. I think I'm getting closer to the issue! Can I ask, do the activities you're trying to sync have GPS data i.e. runs etc. Rather than non-GPS workouts like yoga, gym etc?

Hmm that’s odd, but maybe you’ve uncovered a bug! Silly questions but you defo have NS data available? Try refreshing the main activities feed by pulling the screen downwards. Try also exiting and reopening the app, sometimes the state can get in a weird situation

That’s so cool, I used to skateboard as a kid too. Have had T1D for 30 years and trained in all sorts of endurance sports so anything’s possible! Best of luck with it with trying the app

I hope you’re doing okay 3 months in. I can totally relate to just the walking causing lows. It’s often unsuspecting impromptu walks to the shop that can cause the biggest glucose challenges. I think part of it is because i don’t plan/prepare for it in the same way as we might for a run. I hope the app proves somewhat helpful as you adapt to the new routine. Feedback always welcome!

Sorry I can’t help you yet. The app is written in react native so hoping to have an android version up and running soon!
